I hope this is allowed, the guidelines said I was welcome to introduce myself... Hope this is the right place!

I'm 17 years old and wanted a vespa since I was probably 13. haha, I'm hoping to get one before I leave for college next year, as I'll be traveling an hour away and would much rather have something more gas efficent then my Nissan altima(Which is good, but still)..
I'm a senior this coming fall in highschool and am wanting to become a tattoo Artist. I hope to be attending The Art Institute of Charlotte, NC next year.
I love animals, and naming inanimate objects. :}
I have two rats, Brom and Waffle,
A bearded Dragon, Emmett
My 2000 Nissan altima, Bruce
and I just ordered my Sony Vaio pink laptop (No name yet)

I hope to get a Vespa GTS 250. or a LX 150.
I like the way the 150 looks, but the 250 will be faster.. and therefore what I need to tackle the interstate and charlotte traffic. :-/

I want a white(Or Yellow! BRIGHT yellow!) one and I would love to find a pinup girl decal to put on the front!
Thanks for reading!

Hi Krista, welcome to "our" world here on MV. Greetings from me in Western Australia.

Did you know that Vespa have released the GTS 300 Super in Europe?.... mmm, that's more my cup of tea. Not that I can afford one!!

Thank you guys!

Paul - I actually found pictures about the GTS 300 last night while browsing for pictures and stuff. Very nice.

Nick and Susan- Thank you for the link! I'm browsing now. I cant wait until I turn 18. :-/

Edit: Forgot to mention, I was looking for helmets on, none other, ebay and found some cute ones I like.. Before I ask the question, I am definetly mechanically challenged. The helmets are rated for 50-125 ccs. The GTS 250 is 250cc's so I could NOT use these helmets, could I?

Welcome to MV! You'll find a lot of answers to your modern Vespa questions here. As for the GTS vs LX - you'll probably discover that the GTS better suits your needs, particularly if you are planning on freeway riding. You may also want to see if any GT200s are in your area.

......Welcome Krista .....you'll find some other members from the Charlotte area....just run a search on members......Anyhoo- i admire the fact that your trying to learn as much as possible beforehand....you must be a good student......also, just remember a "cute helmet" is the last thing you need to worry about if you are involved in an accident .....run a search on all the helmet info also........Don't be afraid to ask questions.....but 1000's of topics are searchable...... I live in Atlanta, but go through Charlotte alot (as in next week)....i have a home in Ashe county, near Boone.......what a beautiful state NC is

ps: just a thought......Emmitt and the field mice don't live in the same cage do they Laughing emoticon

Hello Godoggo!
Thats a good idea, thank you!
I'm actually a terrible student, I have the worst trouble paying attention. Razz emoticon But I love researching, I go this with everything; Phones, Cars, Animals, books; before I buy anything. haha!
Yes, i know, thats why I was asking about the CC's... I wasnt sure exactly what they meant and if I cant use it for my vespa then it's out. Razz emoticon

Thank you!

P.S. haha.. No, right now my rats are three of Emmett, so they would probably kill him. Both are spoiled and living in "mansions".

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text Welcome to our forum, Krista.

Assuming that you don't already have your Class M motorcycle endorsement, then I highly recommend getting your riding permit and signing up for the Basic RiderCourse from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

It takes 15 hours over the course of 4 days. If you pass the tests at the end, you will be given a license on the spot. In many states (like Pennsylvania), it's free, but it can cost up to around $250. Highly recommended -- you'll learn a lot about counter-steering, accident avoidance, etc. in a much more hands-on approach than you can read out of a book or online.

Typically, the MSF site will provide the bikes (200-250cc motorcycles) and has helmets you can borrow (or bring your own). External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

You know, it's a sad state of affairs when a Nissan Altima is considered a gas-guzzler. External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

We get 27.5 mpg with our 2006 Nissan Altima.

Thank you all!!!

Marcster: I'm on the North Carolina DMV site to look around about getting my motorcycle permit/lisence and went to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, but I'm not quite sure where to go to sign up for classes? Do I call the number of the place I want to take the class?
Will I be able to go alone at 17? If I passed the class would I get my lisense?
My Altima gets such nice class milage, but, as a teenager I throughly enjoy joyriding.

Krista! We have a lot in common. I am also a female rat lover looking to get a GTS with a love of art and tattoos Instead of becoming a tattoo artist, though, I became a jeweler. Getting a vespa is a great idea. 8) Do a search for MSF courses in your area. I am doing mine through a private school in Northern Virginia.

I absolutely adore the babies (even the beardie). Which one is Brom and which one is Waffle? The dark one looks a lot like my dear departed Misty and Luna.

Thank you for complimenting them <3 they are my children, really.

From nose-poking on one of the sites off of the page Battlewagon linked to:

"Persons interested in attending a BRC must be 16 years of age or older. Students under the age of 18 must have the written consent of a parent or guardian. You do not need to possess a driver's license or learners permit to take the course."

It sounds like if your parents will sign off on it that you can take the course and get your license, no problem. External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text
