Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone here would be able to provide step-by-step instructions for removing the body panels from a fly 150. Photos are a bonus! I am a total newb, I had a try at it myself but failed. I think I am getting the order wrong. Specifically, I am looking for how to remove the handlebar covers, front cover and glovebox panel. Thanks!

It is a hassle! The Fly is a great bike, but not the most easily serviceable!
I replaced the horn a while ago and have a couple of pics on my clubs board.

There is at least one great thread on MV that goes into greater detail, but you'll have to do the digging to find it...

Thanks for the link. I am also a member of the TMSC. Were you at Twisted Wheel 2008?

I did a fairly thorough search on MV, but couldn't find a step-by-step take apart of the front panels. I am guessing, I need to remove the mirrors first, then unscrew the two screws on the grey panel that houses the gauges. Beyond that however, I am completely lost.

Was I there? You bet! I'm one of the organizers
I've been a tad low-profile this year due to my now three-month-old daughter so TWSR 2008 was pretty much my first real event of the season.

What are you doing to your Fly? You may not need to fully take apart the panels. I have done some projects (ie GPS power install) in which I only needed to loosen the panels enough to access and fish wires through.

There are some pretty hidden screws on the Fly (I don't remember them all off the top of my head), so don't force anything! Here's another take-apart project thread. Take it slow, give lots of time and keep track of the screws (there are different sizes/threads).

Good luck!

I was planning on removing the earring turning signals and moving them down to where the running lights currently are. I am most certain I'd have to remove the front red panels at the very least. I saw someone else did this mod here, but they didn't provide instructions, just the end result. I've already disassembled the floor and rear panels. That was no sweat, I am just mystified on getting the front taken apart. Down the road, I am also thinking of getting a custom paint job, so I'll be removing all the red panels to get that done. I might message micbergsma from that other thread. They seemed to have the front panels removed with no problems.

Thanks again!
