Man - o - man, I think people lost the focus of the OP's post.
The fact that he replied he was going to "take it out" on the parking enforcement person by blogging about him was meant to be humorous. It's not like he said, "I'll gonna get my veggie peeler and peel you, Pig." Jesus, take it easy. He got a ticket, he paid the ticket, and he doesn't like cops who give him tickets. End of story. Since when did MV become the place where a person mentions something bad that happened to them and the next thing you know they're being told they're a P.O.S. by everyone? The guy's allowed to have an opinion and so are you - but don't be a douche about it. Keep it above the waist. |

I just got a parking ticket in Hoboken, NJ. I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with Hoboken, but it has the worst parking in the world. Quite literally. There are just not enough spots, too many cars. So I went to the park to eat lunch and parked my PX on the gravel next to the bike rack, thinking why waste a car parking space with a scooter. I was there for 15 minutes and came back to see a ticket in the handlebars for "parking on the sidewalk" $54!!!! You'd think they'd be happy I wasn't monopolizing a full spot. And it wasn't even on the "sidewalk." There's just no justice!!!!!!!

designknob wrote: I just got a parking ticket in Hoboken, NJ. I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with Hoboken, but it has the worst parking in the world. Quite literally. There are a few hundred motorcycle parks in the entire city, usually in obscure spots. Hunting them down is a nightmare, so you end up having to park in a normal car parking space 99% of the time. Parking anywhere other than a designated parking spot is illegal. Most of the metered parking uses tickets, which you are supposed to put on your dashboard. That obviously doesn't work too well on a bike or scooter. The official policy to deal with this is to take your ticket with you, wait for the fine to arrive, then contest the fine by sending them a copy of the ticket and an explanatory letter. You have to do that each time you park. Even in the case where the parking meter uses a "timed bay" system, there is trouble. Things seem fine initially... you park your scooter in your space, pay for it on the meter, then go on your way. Then another bike or two will invariably park in the spot with you. This seems sensible, until you realise that it is illegal for more than one vehicle to share a bay. So the traffic cop comes along, chooses one bike at random to be the "legally parked bike" and fines the others. You had better hope that you kept your receipt, because you will need it to contest the fine. Parking stations aren't much use either. Most are automated, with boom gates that can't be triggered by a scooter. It's total insanity. Much like the toll-roads, which are mostly cashless and use an "e-toll" system. Unfortunately, the e-toll tags aren't designed for bikes or scooters, making them a nightmare to fit. If you do manage to somehow fit the tag to your bike, it will be stolen the first time you park it. I'm glad I don't have to go to Sydney too often. ⚠️ Last edited by Marlor on UTC; edited 1 time
