I have a GTS250ie, and currently have a front rack mounted (this exact type http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=25042007048hw8.jpg). I am also interested in some side/front protection in the way of crash bars like these:
http://www.scooterwest.com/item_detail/GTGTS-Front-Crash-Bars/321/

Will I still have clearance to keep my front rack and install this together?

Currently the attachments for the front rack at the top (just below the head lamp) don't seem to allow the room (underneath). I've seen an LX150 kitted out like this, but am just uncertain if it will work the same for the GTS250.

Has anyone tried this?

Are there any other other alternatives for side / front crash bars for the GTS250 beyond these (that will ideally work with existing holes / mounts)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been toying with the idea of the front bars myself. seems that you lose the pretty little piaggio emblem with the mounting in that hole.

I believe that the front rack slows you down to some degree with the wind and all ( if areodynamics are your concern.

search "NYLES AT JETTIN" in the search function and see what he has come up with....

Thanks for the info. I'll try that search. I've only ever seen one project Nyles has done on here, and it was quite impressive. It was/is a PX front crash bar modification for another members' scooter (fitted to a GTS250ie). I'm considering taking that very plunge eventually - but also wanted to probe some other options.

The loss of the front badge to install those bars doesn't particularly please me either. It's the one major 'con' with this installation. I was dreaming up an idea of possibly trying to reattach the front badge elsewhere on the scooter if I did make this move though. We shall see.

I recently saw an ET2 kitted out, and I really enjoyed its leg shield bars. It would have been cool to see a GTS option with something like that. Maybe they would fit? Check them out here:

Also, I'm not terribly concerned with aerodynamics personally, but I haven't noticed a difference since I've had my front rack put on.
