I have a new 07 GTS 250 that after driving for around 100 miles this weekend I let cool off for a while before proceeding to wipe down the wheels and engine. I sprayed the engine down with some simple green cleaner and went to wipe it off and there is a dime size area of paint that came off the engine. It somewhat looks like a hot spot where the paint got hot. Any answers. Is there a chrome kit for the engine??

Simple Green is alkaline and will attack aluminum. It also strips the natural oils out of paint. I wouldn't use it on my scooter.

New powder coating will do the trick... Somewhat of a project though. Did it on my GT200.

Simple Green
I have talked to several people and they have never had a problem with simple green on paint or chrome.

1. I used Simple Green on my engine.

2. Paint came off

but:

it can't be the Simple Green because a some guy told me it isn't.

I guess that makes sense.

There are people who wash their scooters with dish washing detergent that claim to have no problem.......................but their scooter doesn't shine like it should. Same way with SG.

Read the bottle. I believe it will say Do not use on aluminum, which happens to be what the engine case is made of.

If it isn't the Simple Green that caused the paint to come off I wonder if they will cover it under warranty.

Is there a chrome kit for the engine...I would love to take off the dull painted cover and put a chrome one on.
