We are headed out on a car + trailer trip next week. Whole fam-damliy (husband, dogs, me, bikes) east to SLC to visit family, north to Jasper to visit caribou and ice fields and back to oregon.

Anybody have tips for great coffee, good scoot shops or other nifty things along the way? we have no real itenerary and about two weeks to fill between leaving SLC, visiting jasper, and getting back home. No scoots but bicycles . Single track suggestions welcome!

Here's our rig and trailer:

Some good single track on the west coast of BC if you make it out this way.

If you're looking for activities/things to do and have the time to spare I was just in Barkerville last week. There are 2 motels in Wells, 5 miles outside Barkerville so you could ride your bikes to the actual town. Barkerville was the largest gold mining town back in the late 1800s and at one time was under consideration to be the capital of BC. The town is historically preserved and they have performers throughout re-enacting the towns history. It's a nice day trip and if you're lucky you may find some gold It's still an active mining town. Barkerville is located near Williams Lake/Quesnel. Google maps has a pretty good aerial image if you wanted a birds-eye view.

Hi Blackbird,

I have no idea when you will be travelling but up here in Edmonton we have North America's largest Fringe Theatre Festival from August 14-24. If you are coming this way, it's definately worth checking out.

Avoid our giant mall though (every self-respecting Edmontonian does) unless enslaved seals and indoor theme parks full of mall rats with gold teeth is your idea of a good time. Hee hee.

Jasper is fantastic. Be sure to take some time to check out Jasper Park Lodge and Lake Louise. The hot springs in Banff are also very lovely.

Hope you have a super trip!

on your way, you can stop at "Scoot Cafe" in Trail...my place...
Rossland has some of the best mountain bike trails in B.C.
