So, I took my air filter out to clean and apply new oil. The gasket and screw guides/washers pictured in the parts book are not there. The 2 airbox pieces overlap so I dont know how critical the gasket is or if it is required.

Makes me wonder what else may be not be right and if the selling dealer will help me out. I really don't want to confront the dealer. Expect them to be defensive anyway.

Based on prevous issues with motorcycle service departments, I prefer to do my own maintenance.

I do enjoy riding my BV.

missing parts
we have found that sometimes the little screws and stuff come missing from piaggio. Or there is an abundance of irregular screws in the assembly bag.

Also things sometimes change in the model run and may have been eliminated but still in the parts book. This is a general assumption and may not apply to this particular situation, but I have seen this happen too.

Just make a determination - is it structural? Will parts fall into other parts without it? if no - then you should be ok. Not to say that if you have the means to put the proper hardware in, do it. Its not going to detonate your bike -especially if its just a guide and screw in the airbox..

Call your dealer !! That's what we are for !! Sometimes the book and the actual product can vary a little, it's a little Italian joke.

+1

The dealer should know what should be there, and in some circumstances, what can be missed out and what should be added...

The tricky bit happens when you find a dealer who doesn't know, or who doesn't give a fig. Happens here too, they don't last long thank goodness.
