Hello all:

I am relatively new to this board, but what a find...resources out the ass. Anyway, I am picking up my newly acquired 76 Vespa Rally 200 tomorrow. I am quite pumped, but I want to know what everyone thinks of 12V conversions. There's no battery on the scoot and the lights run off of the 12 volt. Good thing or bad?

The engine is in good condition, but a complete tear down will ensue this winter. Any suggestions for upgrades of paint colors. Picks will follow shortly.

Thanks for reading...

My humble request:
If you are going to re-paint, please research original paint codes for the Rally series and choose from the original colors. This will also ensure more value than say, poo brown or some other random choice in paint.

Congrats on the Rally, though!! Just ride it, dude - you have lots of time to tinker on it.

I will have to research those original colors, but I am pretty sure that a majority of the 76's were burnt orange (a mixture of red and "tootie roll brown"). That color is not aesthetically easy on the eyes in my opinion. Anyone know of the other option that year? I have access to a body shop for free so I can mix colors...[/i]

Max Meyer Paint Code: "Metallic Moon White" 2.268.0108

LOL Doug - How did you KNOW I was picking on Poopsie Roll? Poor Colin - I am relentless. Even he has started calling it Turdsie. And he is out of town... so not even around to defend himself.

I'm picking up a '75 Rally 200 next weekend too! Here are some pics:

I'm excited... can hardly wait!!

Latinguy...the blue is nice, maybe you could paint the cowls to match? Anyway, I agree that maybe you should just ride it for a while first as long as it's running well....

Ooo Len - bitchen! No wonder I saw your GTS for sale. You sure do love a red scooter, huh?!

Congrats to you, too!

Blue is the real colour (Correct spelling) Orange is nice but in 1975 BLUE was the colour to be seen. I have an original blue 75 rally 200 in my garage and it's sexy.

Great looking scooter mate.

Cheers
