Modern Vespa

I know from reading this and other scoter forums that the demand for scooters in USA is going through the roof, and everyone seems to be wanting to part with their hard earned cash for one (or two). This will obviously have an effect on the number available in stock at dealers, but also the factory at Pontedera also closes for (I think ) a month around now for the summer holidays so this may well aslo have an effect on the lack of machines and parts available at the moment

^ What? What! What?! The Pontadera plant is closing? When was this decided?

Granted, I don't visit the Modern Vespa forums nearly as often as I should, but this is a thunderbolt of news to me.

Where are future Vespas going to be made, then? Oh, don't tell me China, or I'll slit my wrists.

I think he means a seasonal shutdown, which is typical of many factories.

Yeah, everything in Italy pretty much shuts down for all of August, and some places extend that to the end of July/beginning of September. Parts will be scarce for the next month...scooters probably as well.
