I just had the J Costa variator installed on my 500. It seems to rev higher than on my 250 with the Costa. The loud fan on the engine kicked in for the first time ever. Is this something I should be concerned about? The engine is getting up around 7500 to 8000 when I accelerate. It usually settles between 5000 and 6000 during regular riding.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid because of the fan.

the fans do come on especailly when sitting in traffic on hot days, mine will come on for about 30 sec or so then off. I monitor the temp gauge when I here it and it usually comes on just when the lcd dispaly goes half way and when it back in the middle -off.

Ya, know worries about the fan. You're in Pheonix for dog's sake! I'm surprised it's not on all the time

I have my J Costa sitting in my living room. My 500 has been running so swell that I haven't wanted to put it on yet. Well that and I don't really have the time right now.

How you liking it so far?

It seems fine. It is very smooth. It just seems to be revving higher than the 250 with the J Costa.

That's the whole point of the J Costa, why are you complaining?

I'm just concerned that if I take it into the mountains that it will overheat. I know that is supposed to rev higher, and that is the benefit, but the fan has been kicking on when it never did before. I'm just a little concerned. The heat of the desert never made the fan activate until the Costa was installed.

My fan kicks on pretty much any time I stop during the heat of day. If your temp gauge isn't reading high I wouldn't worry about it.

PS. if you are still worried I guess I could be convinced to take your J. Costa off your hands.
