August 8, 2008 I will arrive in D.C and complete the 22,000 mile Peace sign.
I am posting this invite now to give notice, and hopefully we can keep it near the top.
It is scooterists that have supported the ride and raised the most funds-$8,000 as of yet!
There is no one I want with me more, except well, Ghandi, Ani Difranco, maybe David Lynch....
I'm not planning any big protest or demonstration. The point of this ride has been to take Peace away from a political arena and to the people. To beg people to offer their personal definition of Peace. To inspire people to help improve the world. To promote scooters. To find common ground among often polarizing viewpoints. It's our world and it's up to us to take on its many problems.
I can't imagine going to DC and yelling and holding a sign with the same old message on it in protest. My greatest hope after 22,000 miles of meeting wonderful people is that those present would create a human peace sign, which reflects the unity I've seen around the country.
If anything, join us in a ride around the city. Starting at noon in DC, more details to be announced.
If you wish to ride down Route 1 to RVA, please join us. On Saturday, August 9th, we will leave the DC area for Richmond, VA. There will be a party at Scoot Richmond. I can't promise any sleep accommodations as of yet.
Perhaps you would just wish to ride out a little ways. Any which way you can, please join me in the last moments of creating the largest Peace sign in history, on the year it turns 50.
Stay tuned.
Please, post this on other message boards if you don't see it already posted.
Any questions?
