The folks that stayed off property from the Choo Choo had neither maps nor directions to get to the Norrie Keerr sessions. More than a few walked around and gave up not realizing that the venue was on the other side of the entrance drive, as it was not clear for them that it was part of the Choo Choo property. (I did my best to direct as much traffic as I could). The 2 times we got lost were once whilst trying to get back to our hotel and got caught in a one way system, and the 2nd on Sunday morning when I got my left and right confused and told my other half to turn the wrong way. Andrea The information was not readily available, and those of us in the hospitality room setting up the breakfast didn't get any information on where to point people asking us. |

Kudos to the organizers, sponsors, hosts and hospitality staff of AV '08. I think it was a great success overall and I for one had a fine time.

I had a great time and didn't even bring a scooter- probably more fun than when I did have a scooter in Seattle. I even got offered the cupcake seat.
With those that are concerned or had challenges getting finding things or whatever; prepare a coherent email with facts and when it is asked for have it ready to go. This is a volunteer run operation and compare to the other similarly run and even professionally events I see on a daily basis: It went well. Food challenges: Registration was probably one scooter time, it would be interesting to see how may registrations per day over the term that registration was open. |

I had a fantastic time. Thank you VCOA for a great job. I liked the little maps for the rides. The hotel was great, food was good, location....Chattanooga is awesome!

Super great news! I've been looking for an excuse to cruise down the coast to the Bay Area...no need to search any longer. Anyone else wanna ride down?

Otherwise, it's a relatively straight shot down Hwy 280. |

All-in-all, the feeling of accomplishment of GETTING to Seattle was better than pint-sized cheerleaders. Highway 1/101 IS the way to go. Period. |

Back in SJ
After quite an adventure, Lauren, Valerie, Xtina and myself all made it back to the Southbay this afternoon. 17 days and 7 & 5730 miles, one flattened jack rabbit, a totaled GTS, a couple of bottles of Ketel One, many cervezas, too much bbq, another great Amerivespa, & meeting new / old friends made it all too tiring and fun.
Thanks to JD and the rest of VCOA and Hill City SC for a great Amerivespa. Love all the enthusiasm that's going out there. With Bradford Duval from Corazzo (Does that make Chad the president's secretary?) as the new VCOA pres and me as the new VP as his cohort in crime we are planning to make San Jose the best Amerivespa to date. We will be able to do that with some good planning, $$$, and a lot of your help. VCLG will be co-hosting with VCOA in conjunction with our 20th anniversary celebration. I'm sure when Rolf and Julius formed VCLG they would have never figured on having a 20th anniversary party this big! We have made preliminary contact with clubs and will be firming up the date quickly. It' s just a little bit harder when we need to find an appropriate venue to handle the crowd that we expect to join us. The SF Bay Area is one of the best scooting areas in the country with so many great riding routes that we want to put on a great party. I would encourage those of you who are not a VCOA member to join. VCOA is the only organization who has been promoting the Vespa and scootering community at the national level. Besides discounts on Amerivespa, you'll receive American Scooterist magazine and a national directory of VCOA members. If you haven't attended an Amerivespa before there is a great feeling to meet folks from everywhere that all love to scoot. It does give you a sense of community beyond our own clubs. So I'm glad to be home in one piece (more or less) to get this party started. Will be keeping you posted. Ciao! Do you know the way? Amerivespa 2009 |
