Actually i think the article is more about who not to ride with than any condemnation of scooters. In the end she says that the guy should be riding with her not the other way around.

Did you see reporter Tracy Butler on You Tube? News Reporter Tracy Butler Crashes a Vespa Motor Scooter. Not very responsible on the part of the dealer, the reporter or anybody on this set to let this happen.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zBXgZ9HWF5E Back to the topic article: I agree that Laurie was calling the driver Barney Fife, not the scooter. My issue is when she says "Jon, on the other hand, will probably err on the side of caution, force me to wear some nerdy-looking helmet, and urge me not to drive faster than is both legal and safe. Booooooring. I'm fearful Ljungberg might try to get me back to that sucky, nerdy look again, and I just don't think I can handle it." So, Winnepeg Sun, find a reporter that can report on Scooters responsibly, in safe gear. At least Tracy looked cute in that red, unstrapped helmet. |

I love Barney Fife.....
He was a "peace officer"....not the 'law enforcement' types we have to deal with now....life was better then.... IMHO R 8) |

1. Well written, amusing article. Learn to read.
2. "Legal and safe" may be prudent, but it damn sure is booooring. Ditto ATGATTGAGME. Roland |

I feel more LeeMarvin/MarlonBrando on my scooters then I ever do BarneyFife. ATG or not, I still feel more like Brando.
I don't whistle the AndyGriffith theme song ever. For Brando it was Art Blakey but for me it's more likely the Sex Pistols. I keep that attitude even doing 40mph at full throttle on my ET2 (in my leathers). I simply can't "doodle" along in fast traffic. My displeasure is in Laurie's suggestive attitude that scooters are nerd-mobiles, "Barney Fifes". Aunty Em dressing him up like a goof. Laurie admits you should wear Toreador Pants no matter what you ride, but still suggests these are nerdy alternatives to real bikes. I take exception to that. |
