Modern Vespa

I have realized there are more Vespa riders in this area then I thought. Anyone want to get together so we can meet, talk Vespa, etc?

How about meeting at Sfizi for coffee, wine, cookies at 6:30 on Tuesday August 12? I know Lino, the owner, would love to see a bunch of Piaggios by his cafe'.

I'm there. New to the scoot world so I would love to meet up and chat with some other scooter lovers.

I am not too far away in Charlottesville, thought that date would be tough for me to make on a week day, a weekend would work out great. Keep me posted of any other meet - ups. BTW, we get together for rides in the Charlottesville area in case you are ever interested in visiting.

Yeah, now we got to get Ratstar, shragtemp, du Tabac, normratscoots, scoot_in_VA, Bender, Bobovespa, remy555 and chug to respond (i.e. all the people who I've seen identify themselves as from NoVa) then we'd have a proper gang.

It's hard to get to Fairfax on a weekday evening from around the beltway.

A weekend ride, now that's something I could do.

As long as we all don't hate each other at the first small gathering I'm betting there will be more.

Weekends definitely work better for me as well, especially to get a good ride in. When we meet up we can start talking about some good day rides to put together, like Harper's Ferry, Luray Caverns, etc.

We should put a good reminder out next week and maybe a quick post on the General Discussion to get some more folks for the 12th.

Either of those sound like a great ride. We were just talking in C'ville about Harpers Ferry. I have not been there in at least 10 years. I think it would be a nice ride.

Yes, Harpers Ferry would be a great place to meet the Rivanna peeps. I rode through there on the way home from AmeriVespa this week. If we plan it right on a hot day we can go tubing on the river there to cool off. And ride the 10 miles or so to Shepherdstown for some good food.

+1 for tubing. I can only do it Sunday though (Sat is supposed to be bad weather anyway).

This weekend is out as are most of my weekends through August. The end of Aug is looking good.

This weekend isn't good for me. Picking up my new scoot Saturday (or Sunday if it is raining) and want to clock some miles before I group-ride anyway.

Definitely on into August would be great. And September. And October...

We should probably make a new thread to talk about tubing so events don't get confused.

We are all planning on taking our Vespa's on tubes behind a Ferry.

The end of August is looking like Labor Day.

You have to rent tubes and the bus unless someone drives in which case one of the Vespas is parked downstream and is used to go get the car.

I can start a new thread about this so things don't get mixed up. Please hold.

Same here Wayne, it was great meeting a few others and was great seeing the GTV, LX150 and two MP3's lined up in front of the Italian deli!

The couple on the yellow LX who drove by and left missed out.

Sfizi is great, anyone in the area should give it a try (great choice, Boomie)!

That was me ... I thought I talked my wife into it, but when we got there she didn't want to stop. Baby steps ... maybe next time fellas ....

Was in Shepherdstown, WV yesterday - never been there - and there are some beautiful roads around there, lots of twisties, saw many bicyclists and motorcyclists. Beautiful country.

And stop and get some fresh peaches. Mmmmmmmm.

Yeah, honestly I get more compliments on my hat then my scoot. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

So, who's up for another? I kinda like the idea of making Sfizi the "regular place" (so regular I'm going there in 15 minutes) - what do y'all think? Also how does Tuesday September 2 sound?

I have class starting next Tuesday on through December, so Tuesdays won't work for me. Monday's and Wednesdays are good as the wife has class those two nights a week.

Would love to have a regular Sfizi meeting, just can't on Tuesdays
