I'm having so much fun on my Vespa today

First, I brought my pug Billy to work on the back of the Vespa in a milk crate. I had not put a milk crate on before, but it went on nicely with 4 velcro straps. I put a fleece blanket in there and then harnessed him in so he couldn't jump around. He loved the ride, my commute is short 30mph backroads and only takes 10 minutes.

Second, I passed my DMV road test (I left Billy at home). They had me check my lights, horn, brakes etc. Then I did the serpentine and circle routines - passed with flying colors. Everybody at DMV was really excited about the Vespa, emplyees and customers asking questions with big smiles all round.

Woohoo

is that safe for the little guy? i think i would be scared to have my dog in the back. what if (god forbid) something ever happened. but then again people tell me i'm WAY too overprotective of my dog. that's why i don't have kids. they would never leave the house.

congrats on the test! best of luck to you

great news. I would say to look into more secure pet carriers though. We can tell how much you love your little friend, lets not let anything happen to him.

Sounds like great fun!

But I would look into an enclosed crate if I were you. There have been several threads on MV if you take a look. (Of course I even have my dog ride in a crate in the car. I couldn't stand it if anything happened to him.)

+1 on the doggles!! Pugs have protruding eyes, so they're even more vulnerable to insects and debris.

Thanks for all the kind coments.

Billy won't wear doggles, he really is quite fussy about being touched in the face... I wish he would though, I think he'd look great in a brown leather pair to match the seat.

Pet carrier is definitely where it's at. I used to have one too, but it got given away at some point. I'll see if I can pick one up on CL for cheap.

If you're going to use a milk crate, I'd at least attach it with zip ties rather than velcro. I think it would be more secure. I wish my dog would enjoy that.

Have fun!

Nice to hear about your day. My jackrussel/corgi loves my milk crate. I do recommend the zip ties instead of velcro. I got these really hardcore 1/2 inch thick zip ties... Harness and blanket and you should be just fine. It depends on the dog. I use the kind of harness that is meant for the car. It allows them to turn around but not jump out. I haven't tried the Goggles because I only take BB, my dog, around if its a short slow ride.

I'm thinkin of trying one of these pet carriers next season.

Congratulations on both counts-- Billy looks happy, too!

I also vote for the road hound. 8)

I used to live not too far from you, in Long Beach. Nice riding weather you have!

Congrats and welcome to the ranks of licensed two wheelers

Speaking of doggie transport, caught this one on Naxos last week:

Spiders of any size don't really bother me. I don't know enough about scorpions to really judge, but they seem aggressive to me. I don't want to get stung by one, I know that much.
