I picked up the beautiful Passion Red MP3 500 today. My husband rode it home because it was rush hour traffic and I'm not that experienced. When we got home I rode it around the neighborhood and was doing good until I decided to pull over in front of the house. I didn't get my feet down soon enough and then it was too late to try the lock, so you can guess what happened. Standing still and it went over Oh well, it was probably bound to happen to me at one time or another, but I wished I'd made it through the first day.

So I need advice on how to touch up a small scratch to the red where it touched down. I take it I get the touch up paint from the dealer and dab that on. The plastic is a little rough though, any advice on how to smooth that out?

OOOHH

You'll be fine with a little touch-up, use the search here for paint, one was Ford touch-up, it's real close and a Ford dealer on every corner; beats Italy FedX.

I was just talking to PiaggioUSA today and they mentioned engine guards in the future.

Put a bumper sticker on that scratch and get back on that horse

Sorry to hear about your accident.
You should be able to get a small bottle of touch-up paint. They have a nib on one end and a very fine brush on the other. Should be easy enough to get a color match. Any car paint or accessory shop should stock them.
Don't know about the black plastic. Maybe some paint cutting compound might be enough. A shot of "Back to Black" works wonders.

Try a hair dryer on the rough bit it may help smooth it out. Don't use a heat g-u-n as that might melt it. Be careful and go slowly. Good luck.

My wife did the same thing coming out of our garage - it is sloped with a dip at the street - some scratches and a munched turn signal on the right side.

Now she locks the suspension and gets off the bike to push it thru the dip - the 3-point stability is great!

Oh - congrats from the county to the west!

Sorry you dumped on your first day. But now you have that experience under your belt so it isnt as mystical for you. I had a honda 550 back in the 80's and on my first day i ran it into a guardrail at slow speed. Thank god no one was looking LOL. Well i scratched it a little but that experience made me a better driver. Good luck and keep the rubber side down.
