so it's okay to register it out of state and then bringing it back to california to live for a few years?

i wouldn't have to hassle having it purchased by my aunt and uncle so it would be "used"?

i'm looking to get a stella in the next few months and need to know if there's going to be any problems with registering it out of state or not.

what about the whole 7500 mile deal?

I may be wrong, but I believe Calif.DMV will not allow 2 strkes to be registered in Calif. I have heard of some who just keep the out of state licenses on it. The Stellas are a great looking scoot.

it needs to have 7800 (i believe) miles on it before you can register it here.

Buy one of these and have it delivered to your uncle.

I'll leave it up to him to decide what to do with it to solve your problem. Would also suggest he take about 90 days to do it so it isn't obvious.

Perhaps that will do the trick, but I am no authority on the subject.

I have often thought of a probable lucrative but probably illegal business plan. Buy spare Stella speedos and run them up to 7800+ with a drill and sell them to folks who are trying to get new Stella's into California.

You might want to check the records on the 7800 mile speedo trick as I am unsure if it will work with your Stella.

I have heard of this working with Canadian /Euro bikes like Suzuki Gammas (2 stroke) & NSR Hondas (2 strokes)

But I have not had to do it myself so I am unsure of exactly what is involved.

A friend just went the ring of fire trying to get a PX200 registered.
He ended up getting Nevada plates & reg.

I have had luck with switching the numbers from trashed frames to get titles.

Bills of sale with lost titles & stating the bike has been sitting for "X": amount of years & registering as a 1980.....etc.etc.etc.

Used to be ITS international title service could do it with Maine plates.....

Also I have seen new PX150's get registered with Washington state plates in Santa Barbara.

I hate the DMV......

I never mentioned the illegal running up of speedos!

...and somewhere in a NJ auto body shop are some perplexed mechanics talking about "In California they ADD miles to the odometer!" ROFL emoticon

maybe in the gran scheme of life it all balances out with all those odometers rolled back, though I don't think that will work at the DMV

I'm planning on moving back to California in the next couple of years and heard that if you move from out of state, you can bring the Stella with you. I agree with the others that this might be your best scenario. To "move" from Oregon to CA.
