My wife and I are getting ready to take it on Friday and I'm really curious to know how many questions are on the test. We've been using an online study guide at http://www.testquestionsandanswers.com, so we should be OK. But I'm still curious to know what we're in for.

Michigan's has 20 questions, I never looked at the study guide, and missed 3 questions. It was a lot harder that I thought. The driving test was pretty easy.

I believe it was 26 or so. Each question is weighted differently as well. I'd recommend reading the Motorcycle handbook they have. That should make the test fairly easy.
If you don't have an appointment and your DMV is busy, chances are you'll be waiting an hour before your test... might be good to pick up that handbook! Note also that you're allowed to retake the rest 3 times on that same day.... even in a row. So if you fail the first time, review your test... study a little and jump back in the test line and you can take it again. Oh, and you also have to take half of the regular drivers written test. They treat it as a drivers license renewal thus you need to brush up a bit on basic driving rules and regulations. I didn't know you had to do that and I was able to pass without restudying any material. I'm also a pretty darn good driver though. Hope this helps!! |

yea. the post above was pretty spot-on. I just got my permit today! I am looking at the 1st test, where I missed 6, and it is 25 questions and you can get 4 wrong (sometimes logical is not correct when it comes to the DMV). I passed the 2nd try.... Yeah!

We both feel very well prepared for the motorcycle test. How many questions did you have to answer on the regular drivers test? |

If you have taken a written license test within the last year, you don't have to take the C written test FYI

I took the written test in Santa Clara DMV. I had studied both for the C and M licenses but when I actually took it, I only had to do the M test. I had studied the C handbook last so that was fresh in my head. I ended up missing 7 the first time. You're only allowed to miss 4. The second time (after looking through the M handbook for 15 minutes) I only missed 2. I take the MSF course next week!

When I took it several weeks ago, I studied the Driver's manual more than the motorcycle one...was afraid I would pass the MC and not the drivers. BUT, they didn't give me the driver's test. It has been about 4 years since I took it, so don't understand why some have to, and some don't.
I don't have any tickets, and I am relatively old...maybe that makes a difference? |

i took mine like last month, but i failed twice already. the guy gave me a motorcycle handbook and told me to study and come back later. havent had the time to retake it tho.
i thought it was kinda hard. there was only 1 or 2 questions from the dms's test questions. also you do need to take the drivers test and motorcycle test. |

Here's a link to the 2 sample tests actually used at the CA DMV.
I found that my test was nearly ideantical to a combination of these 2 tests. www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/interactive/tdrive/exam.htm |
