Soft: Dr. Pepper (the original; made with cane sugar. Not the corn syrup crap served everywhere else).

Beer: Pabst Blue Ribbon (yeah seriously, I like microbrews just fine, but a cold PBR always tastes good).

Hard: Highball w/ Woodfords Reserve Bourbon

Wine: Solaris Merlot 2006

Cafe: Straight black McDonald's or Dunkin' Donuts. (yeah still serious.... Starbucks, etc. is just too expensive the way I do math, and a good cup o' Joe is the one thing McDonald's makes that I'll gladly pay for).

I'm giving away some of my all time secrets here...

Home made ginger ale with cloves, cardamom, and loooooads and loooads of ginger, with a splash of bitters over ice, and just a hint of rock sugar. That's a drink that'll bite you back.

Hot chocolate heavy on the Burdick's cocoa powder and 70% unsweetened chocolate, light on the sugar, with a dash of cayenne pepper.

Talisker scotch, neat.

Rusty nails with home made seasoned honey whiskey...yes, t puts hair on your chest, but it was my EMT partner that introduced me to the drink...a girl with very little hair on her chest...as far as I could see.

If you're going for shots, I recommend an Alien Secretion...
1 part melon liqueur
1 part coconut rum
1 part pineapple juice

And for a nice summer night...a Lake Como Cooler:
Pear vodka, Vanilla Citrus liqueur, and chamomile tea in a highball or collins glass on the rocks

Brittania blend coffee from Galileo Coffee--small-batch roasted goodness. it'll stop you in your tracks and make you say "Damn that's good coffee!!" It has to every one of my friends...literally. Not one has taken a sip without making an unsolicited comment. That's how good this coffee is.

And for beer...none other than Dogfish Head's Midas Touch...a beer to die for.

Oy...I forgot...a good chai tea, home brew, of course...

In time of day order:

Tea ("builder's")
Coffee (espresso)
Almost any real ale (~4% ABV or below normally preferred)
Any Islay single malt (and a few others as well)

For a surprise treat, Marmite.

I'm curious, if the tea that I drink, either Red Rose, or Twinings Irish Breakfast, or Darjheeling, are anything like what they have in the U.K.?

POG (passion fruit, orange and guava juice) washed down with an iced Kona coffee.

Not.

When family visits from the mainland we drink mai tais -- otherwise we pretty much stick to cabernets and chardonnays.

Cold day: Swiss Miss hot chocolate

Hot day: Italian cream soda with vanilla and caramel...
...which is damn near impossible to get anywhere, even at coffee shops who have all the ingrediants to make one.

To quench thirst, nothing beats Iced Tea - must be fresh brewed or sun tea.
Soft drink- Mountain Dew, but Dr Pepper or Pepsi (not Coke) will do. Cactus Cooler is not bad, when I can find it.
Cocktail - margarita on the rocks, but it needs to be made right. They're usually not unless I make them myself.
I really like Cool-Aid too, but don't drink it much. Probably because I don't want to admit to liking a kids drink. Well, that and I'm too lazy to make it.

Coffee: Costa Rican French Roast, black and strong/espresso or americano
Tea: I really like the Lipton cold brew ice tea;hot Earl Grey or Chai w/milk
Soft: Cock n bull ginger beer, but hard to find
Hard: Clan MacGregor Scotch, cheap but drinkable; Gin and tonic w/lime
Beer: Newcastles, or when home in Oregon, McMinnamin's Terminator
Wine: white or red merlot, or pinot grigio from the Willamette Valley
Water: Salem, Oregon has some of the best city water in the world. In CA, filtered by Pur or something like that.
