I pick my bike up Saturday, as I've said on a dozen or so posts across the forum so far (I'm pretty excited about it). Reading on here it seems that many parts of the country (world) have very active Vespa/Scooter clubs but I haven't found any sign of one in the NoVa area. Am I missing it?

Was just wondering if NoVa folks are too cool to group up and take a ride out of town or if there's a group of folks that would want to get together some weekend for a ride out to some wineries, Shenandoah, Middleburg, something of the sort.

I didn't mean to exclude DC and Maryland riders, the more the merrier!

Drop a post here if you are interested and maybe we can get something going in the future. It would be a great way to get more attention on the roads out here to bring awareness to scoots.

Try DC Scoots http://www.dcscoots.com/forum/ and Washington Metro Area Scooter Authority (WMSA) http://www.wmasa.org/forum/ I'm not active in either, but they might be what you're looking for.

Another thing; I don't know if you have a scooter or motorcycle background but group riding is a whole other skill on top of riding your scoot. Your enthusiasm is awesome but you may not want to do a group ride the very first weekend you have your new scoot. If you are a salty pro I apoligize for patronizing . . .

I think the Saints still have a monthly ride. I haven't gone in a year or so, but they usually meet in Old Town Alexandria for coffee and donuts and then a ride thru either DC of VA with a stop for lunch.

Sorry, but the Saints arent a real club with meetings or gatherings, just an email list run by the above-mentioned individual.

The DC scoots board is a better place to troll for rides than wmasa if you are riding a new scooter. The wmasa is mostly old-school riders of classic Vespas and Lambrettas.

You might try posting a specific day, time, meeting place and destination in the rides and rallies section of MV. It doesnt have to be just about California over there.

I'd just like to get enough DC people so we can play "scooter tag" like the cool West Coasters.
