This is really fun. Now I just need my scooter, and a camera. (all area dealers have been expecting them for over a month)

I'm almost wondering if we want to re-define the bounds of this game to keep it in NoVa. Originally I said NoVa/DC because I didn't think there would be enough "players" in just NoVa but apparantly I'm wrong. Thoughts?

I had to register and quit lurking after seeing the bridge I grew up in NoVA and am familiar with it, but I don't live there anymore sadly. When I went there in HS, we got pulled over just for showing up. Apparently the local residents weren't too fond of kids showing up at night fyi, it has a wikipedia entry.

Thursday's hint
3. No one calls it by its "official" name, they use it's nickname. In fact most people wouldn't even know the "official" name.
To be added to these already existing hints; -1. It has its' own Wikipedia page. 0. Don't go there at night. 1. It is in NoVa, not DC or Md. 2. It is outside the beltway. |

Ladies and Gentlemen Ipresent the "Bunnyman Bridge
Really have to thanks for the challenge. It was 22 miles each way so it was tough on the LX50, but I had my best adventure so far and for that you get my thanks

Ok. I really want to know where that is!
22 miles on the 50, good going! I'm doing 25 each way to work on a 250. It's still a bit tiring with the big engine, but SO much fun. |

That, my friends, is Bunnyman Bridge - the 14th most haunted place in the U.S.A. (I read that somewhere).
Supposedly in 1904 a train wrecked nearby. One of the train cars was carrying prisoners and mental patients bound for a prison. After a manhunt all but two of the mental patients were retrieved. Authorities assumed the other two died. After the crash people started noticing carcasses of rabbits hung from the bridge. After one of the two missing inmates was found people believed the one remaining one at large was living in the woods and eating rabbits. A few months later some kids went missing and their carcasses were found hanging from the bridge. The Bunnyman was never found and local legend has it that if you go there at night (or at night on Haloween) the Bunnyman made come and get you and hang your carcass from the bridge. The vertical brown marks on the bridge are supposedly marks from the ropes victims are hung from. Also, another cool rumor, I heard this bridge was part of the inspiration for the movie Donnie Darko. |

Hardcore or obsessed
My wife is concerned over this game and my obsession with it. Highly recommend Fairfax Station Rd. to get to the bridge. It has rolling hills and snakelike turns, so much fun. After this I'm in for the get together. Raise a pint glass to you all. The new post will be on tonight, and I leave for vacation tomorrow. So talk to everyone in a week. Don't be sad for me my scoot is coming on vacation too!!

I looked for the bridge on the way home but couldn't find it! I'm thinking you have to come from the other end of the road I came from. I turned onto the road, it turned to gravel, then went down a hill and became a driveway!
I just want to see this place now! I loved Donnie Darko and always love good urban legends. I'll try from the other direction one day to check it out. Side note and slightly disturbing, given the lore of the bridge. I was IM'ing with a good friend, she's a bit older than I am and has lived here all her life. I asked her if she knew about the bridge and she told me a boyfriend of hers in high school got his legs cut off by a train not far from the bridge. Now that we are all depressed, I'm having a drink, it's Friday! |

Yeah, figured that was it. I was coming from Chapel Road, took Clifton Road, right on Wolf Run Shoals, left onto Chapel, then a right on Colchester.
But Colchester from there was pretty much just a long gravel driveway. I'll try it from Braddock soon. |
