When I insert my key into the seat lock on my ET2, the lock turns but the seat doesn't unlock. Does anyone know another way to get into it? I am running out of gas

it's possible that the clip holding the key mechanism in place inside the seat is off....if that's the case, try to push the key mechanism inside the seat bucket, and then you can open the seat manually. Don't push too hard, you don't want to break it.

I think there is a "manual" button somewhere for emergency use... In the GT it is in the glove box, you hit that when you can't unlock the seat. Don't know if same applies to ET?

I've heard that it's pretty easy to unlatch the seat using a butter knife.

This just happened to a customer of mine and it is fairly easy to fix. First you need to get an screw drive or butter knife like Jon mentioned. From the lock side stick the tool under the seat and try to catch the arm of the metal part of the lock. You might need a flash light to see up in there. Once in there try to force it down this should pop the lock. What you are missing and why your lock is turning is because you are missing a tiny screw that holds the plastic arm. If I get time tomarrow I'll take a few pictures and post them up here so you can understand what I'm talking about, but just keep trying you will get it. hmm maybe I shouldn't be posting this someone could get the wrong idea.

Lol Yeah I could see it now thieves armed with butter knifes ready to take my hmmm junk I have under the seat. Come to think of it I don't even want any of the stuff under my seat. Ok, so here is the big secret in how to unlock your seat. In picture 1 use a butter knife to get to metal latch. Push down on latch to unlock seat. In picture 2 is the reason your lock spins round and round. A screw is missing. If it was the clip the lock would fall out. Well I hope that this super power will not fall into the wrong hands and I hope that it helps anyone out there that may need it.

I haven't figured out the GT or LX seat locks yet anyone out there know anything.

Sean

I never used to leave anything under my seat in London...they didn't both with butter knives, just a big screwdriver to bust it open.

I figured out the butterknife bodge on my fourth or fifth day of ownership, last summer. Had been placing my wallet, gloves and keys in the bucket while I would take my helmet off until on one particularly breezy day the wind blew the seat shut. Last time I tried that routine.

Thanks for this! Long stupid story short, I recovered my wife's ET4 seat, and OVERtightened that set-screw. The key wouldn't turn.
Butter knife, the Vespa screwdriver to back the screw off a little, and it all works again!

Opening ET seat without keys
Welp I've missed two showings of Oceans 8 already and I never got to grocery shopping because I CAN'T FIND MY KEY. And of course when I bought my LX150 second-hand, the seller had lost the master key and only gave me ONE and the dealership didn't have the machine to copy it at that time.

On the slight chance that I might have locked my keys in the seat, I'm trying to open this ET seat (which Owner #1 put on my LX, for looks I guess) in 100 degree heat.

Damn it.

Mixed results
The good news is that I popped my seat with a hanger thanks to this forum! Thanks, forum!

The bad news is that my keys weren't in there.
