I just had my carb cleaned and the main jet replaced a few weeks ago because gas was pouring out of the carb. Now it's pouring out again when the fueltap is on.

Ugh, What now? Any ideas? Plus I am leaving on vacation today for 10 days, will it be okay parked with the fuel off?

thanks

1) Ideas where it's pouring out from? Is the float bowl area tightened down ( 2 screws )? Is the fuel filter cap tightened down? ( 1 screw on top ) Is the fuel inlet banjo screw tightened in enough? are you using a worm-drive hose clamp to secure the hose so it doesn't leak around it?

2) OF COURSE park the thing with the fuel off. That's how you're supposed to be doing it! Don't leave a bike sit with the fuel on. It doesn't hurt anything if you leave it on and your needle valve seats well ... but if it doesn't you can basically flood the engine as fuel continuously spills through your carb, down into your engine, and pools up somewhere ( possibly your exhaust )

I always leave the fuel off when parked. I was just wondering if it was okay to not deal with the issue for 10 days.

Thanks for the tips. I will check those out when I get back.

Should probably be a seal issue or something not tightened town enough. Let me know if you need an extra set of eyes to look at it.

I recently had the same issue on my Rally 200. The float ball and needle needed replacing, but the leak continued until I replaced the fuel tap.

I've found that if i dont tighten the fuel filter cover good and tight, and make sure there is a seal on the bolt it has a tendency to leak. I've also neglected to tighten the clamp on the fuel hose at the banjo and had a leak that way. The Float should definitely be inspected and probably replaced.

Tracy,

You probably already do this, but it's a good idea to turn off the fuel tap and let the bike run out of fuel before putting it away.

I know you said that you turn the fuel tap off, but for the sake of newer readers, the float and needle work fine when the tap is off, but you can still flood the engine after replacing the bowl and needle if you park the bike with the fuel tap open.

Yup, I learned that lesson the hard way.

Len - Yep, I already do that.
Still a good tip though for anyone who doesn't.
