Hi folks,

I seem to have a problem with my ET2 headlight that happened some 2-4 weeks ago now, haven't really gotten round to getting it sorted.

Basically, it is not as bright as it should be, the bulb is working, just taking it out and powering up my scoot , it still seems to light up, have tried changing the bulb. It looks like I've connected a alkaline battery or something to it, because it's so weak - I remember when the headlight used to be a lot more blinding when you look into it. I have also changed the battery, to no joy, doesn't seem to help, my horn also *may* be a bit quiet too, although I am not sure as I never used it a lot before my light went funny.

Any ideas?
TIA!

How does the high beam behave?

Is this at idle or on the road?

Your headlight doesn't run off the battery, it runs off the stator/magneto, so it could be that A) if the problem is only at idle your idle has become rough or low or B) if the problem occurs on the road as well that your stator's output is becoming weak.

Here is a picture, on dipped. On high it is the same effect, just higher up. both small and big bulbs inside the headset are lit, just different proportions according to which beam.

idle and on the road are just as weak. My picture shows that the indicator is as bright as it has always been,. but the headlight is weak! If i'm travelling about it's just as weak.

To put it into perspective. If I look into it while idling or on the road or something, it's like a battery operated light on a bicycle that is running out of battery and needs to be replaced soon.

Somehow, if it's the stator, I think it needs to go for service... took it apart did not see any stripped cables, bad contacts or anything, everything appeared to be fine, spent 1-2 hours looking at the wiring (dont understand it, but i was checking for tears, broken wires etc, excessive corrosion on contacts etc.)

Picture shows right indicator as brighter than the headlight - this is true, indicator seems to be brighter than headlight.

Hm, doesn't sound like the stator really then, no.

I wonder how the regulator is set up... maybe there is an output specific to the headlight which is corroded?

Thanks for your help, I'll give my dealer a call tomorrow and take it in sometime next week (everyone seems to be so busy around here..)

Hopefully can get it fixed before winter comes in and I won't be able to ride my scoot around as much
