Emailed Givi to see if they had a solution on getting one of their wingracks to work with my MP3 500. Return email stated that they had no plans and pointed me to their top rack mount.

Alternate Accessories
See my previous day's post https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic35664?sid=6504350549fdb9de4ef28efbe375db28 ***UPDATE 11/06/08 The original posting info about the reseller in Germany has been updated and is NO longer recommended. See post for more info.***
A German company has made a generic chrome rear luggage rack as well as a chrome sidecase rack that works for the 250/400. They also have a long list of accessories for the 500 but I didn't check into it since I have a 250. The sidecase rack along with two fitting kits allow Givi E21 cases to be mounted on the 250/400. ⚠️ Last edited by smrf on UTC; edited 1 time

What I'm gonna put on my bike.
These should work, since Shad makes topcases that fit the 500. I'm assuming, since they sale "attachment kits" for the 500 that will fit sidecases, that these would work.
http://www.binetto.com/SHAD-Motorcases/SHAD-SH-43-Motorcase-Side-Cases.aspx Even if their attachment kits are not exact, I'm sure since the 500 has side rails, it would be very easy to get hardware and fit them. The side cases are a bit pricy, but very nice designed and color matched. Their Shad top cases are the best I've seen for the price and what I'm planning on getting. I can get a 50L, with brake lights, back rest, and attachment kit that matches my bike's color for the cost of just the Givi topcase which is 37L(if memory serves) and that's without the brake light/back rest or mounting rack! There's a local Shad dealer here and I've seen them up close, they quickly detach off the bike and have handles, turning them into a sort of briefcase. They're very nice and I love the price. Just FYI, not an advertisement. Here's the cases: http://www.binetto.com/SHAD-Motorcases/default.aspx |

Binetto has some good stuff! I think I may buy on of their top cases and just custom mount it. Also like you get one a side case to match it.

Fehling makes a rack system to support two Givi E21s. I have just ordered one and it should arrive soon. I'll post pics when it's installed.

My bad, what I meant to say is "Since they make attachment kits that fit the topcases to the Fuoco, their side cases should fit as well." What I plan on doing is ordering the sidecases and topcase and the topcase attachment kit. Since the topcase attachment kit fits the Fuoco, it will work. As for the sidecases, I think I can look at them once I have them, and rig something very basic that will work. The Fuoco is blessed with large rails that are very sturdy and basically part of the frame. So with just a little Lowe's or Home Depot shopping, you can basically rig a bolt/nut hardware set to the rails that will accommodate anything.

I saw the saddlebags from Scootertrap but i was thinking of something a little more secure and solid :X . That being said, I have not actually ridden around town with them yet, but it certainly looks feasible. One condern is that the panners would Rub against the painted side panels, where-as on the Rebel they sit against a metal bracket that spaces them outwards, preventing direct paint-contact... So then, one might want to address that concern, prior to damaging their paint. |

I have a set of RJAYS Panniers that fit my mp3 250 perfectly i will check the tag tomorrow to check the actual model number of the panniers. has strong straps for securing underneath the mp3 and the underseat strap fits perfectly.
I tried a few sets of panniers prior to finding these and i found that in order to fit them properly i would have had to cut a section out of the underseat strap as they were in the way of the seat catch. I also secure the pannier bags to the rear hand bars with bungee cords. as i have had pannier straps break in the past. these seem pretty strong but i dont take chances. these panniers held on perfectly for the 4000km trip i just did over xmas. and they have good clearance from the exhaust Also im in the process of putting up my videos from my trip over xmas and episode 1 of mp3 adventure will be up in the next week or so. basically im teamed up with 2 other guys with mp3's and we do travelling videos in australia. www.youtube.com/mp3adventure |

Wow, talk about bringing back a thread from the dead!
Neil, I realize this is off this thread's topic but: could you post a closer photo of your GPS/front bag arrangement? I suspect some /400 owners may be interested in what you're packing up there, looks interesting. |

Hi guys,
Sorry i havent been able to post as i have been getting server errors when trying to access modernvespa. Ok so the pic attached is a closeup of how i have my gps mounted. basically it was a ram mount kit that came with the gps and i removed the bottom half of the ram mount which leaves the clamp and the giant thick raised washer, nut & bolt. I drilled a hole in the plastic and the large washer and bolt are inserted and for extra strength i put a thick washer on the inside and used a nylon threaded nut. it is extremely sturdy and does not cause warping or movement with the weight of the gps on the plastic. A separate hole was drilled to insert the plug and cable for the gps wiring harness i still have to put a grommet in to seal it. With the position the gps is in on the handlebars i can attach a GIVI S850 bag which has velcro straps that wrap around the bars. This carries my iphone in the front and in the rear some usb batteries and flip cam and digital still camera. The givi bag sits under the gps bracket without and restriction of movement to the handlebars. its sits in line with the base of the handlebar plastics. |

I have seen the Givi cases on a 250. Looked great if you need the storage but do make the back of the MP3 wide so be careful filtering.

The ones I saw were at a dealer obtained from Twisted Throttle. They were on a 250. I think the brackets did not properl fit a 400 at that time.

That's the same bags we have on our 400 just not painted. Have had them on for 2 years now and have held up really well. While it has scraped and rubbed the air cleaner housing it hasn't made any holes through at this time but have been watchiing it. It would be pretty simple to make a alternate bracket to avoid the interference.

That's my thing...it seems like it should be incredibly easy for any decent metal shop to make a rack like that...mass produced, it doesn't seem like it should run $300ish.
But then I keep looking at stuff like the exhausts for $400+ and going "Seriously, $400 for some rolled-over sheet steel and some stamp-cut metal pieces and welding all done to a template?". |

If you look at the Fehling link provided above, you'll see they make crash bars, but I'm wondering. The pictures show the bars mounting directly to the plastic with little contact to the frame. Is that how crash bars normally mount on bikes? Would that defeat the purpose of trying to protect the plastic by not only allowing the plastic to break in a fall, but having to replace the bars, too?
Somebody make me feel good about these things as I really want some for my baby, but only if they work like they should. |

Maxi_Rose hope that the pictures help you a little bit. Let the pics speak for them selves...
This is luggage rack for side cases (see fehling order no. 7274) but fulcrums are the same as for side protectors.

It would help if you showed what scoot you have, since the 250/400 and the 500 are much different in design and what mods are available. This place has a good solution for the MP3 500. MP3 500 sidecase mounts my solution |
