Does anyone want to join me on Saturday Afternoon? The weather is going to be beautiful and we need some MP3 Scooters to balance out the Harleys.

Would love to but will be in a tree (literally, it's deer season after all!). Have fun down there, at least as much as the new ordinances will allow!

I'd like to be there but used all my credits with my wife and available time off work riding the other end of your state last week along with west North Carolina, east Tennessee and north Georgia. Maybe next year.

There, is always, the Spring Rally, in May.

When details are availabe I could definitely be interested. Maybe my son will be finished restoring his Indian by then and I can get him to come down from Atlantic City.

The Fall Rally, went very well. The weather was perfect. Lots of fun!

So whats up with the city of Myrtle Beach trying to kill the ralley? Seems like they will cut off a major source of tourist income.

It made no sense to me. I hope they lose every law suit. Luckily, I live in Surfside Beach, so they can't raise my property taxes to fight the suits. It must be an effort on the part of people who have moved here to retire and hate bikers. Hopefully, they will wake up and realize that tourists pay for the nice shows, retail centers, etc., that we all enjoy. Come on down, to the Spring Rally, but just spend your money in Surfside Beach, and south.

There's more than one rally in Myrtle Beach. The Fall rally is a small Harley ride but each May there is the big Harley ride (#3 in the country behind Sturgis & Daytona). The big problemmaker is a week later aka Memorial Weekend, when what the locals call "black bike week" takes place. Harleys are replaced with rice rockets for the holiday weekend. Compounding the problem is this event is limited to a few blocks, whereas Harley week has events up & down the 40mi stretch of the Grand Strand. Traffic halts for ours, businesses close, crime (arguably) goes up, cats & dogs living together...you get the idea.

So then, that there is a "big discussion on the suzuki forum" is not surprising since those bike types were the target. The locals want Memorial Weekend to return to a family-oriented time at the beach. Unfortunately Harley week was swept up in this measure due to obvious concerns of racism.
