I found one on Monday, but I was in my car. I was going to back with my scoot, but Tropical Storm Hermine hit. It's looking like rain for the rest of the week too

man, i've got one here in Memphis with our local Ghost River brew on it, but i can't get to it as it's on a bridge. i think i know where there's another one though...

Scooter and abandoned furniture. It can be obviously inside furniture that is outside, like on someone's porch. It can't be outdoor furniture.

I took three new tag photos today...still deciding on which one to use.

I work for NOAA [Marine and Aviation Operations] and a few days ago I was talking with one of my NOAA [National Weather Service] cohorts who was grousing about how most people don't know that the Weather Service is part of NOAA and that the weather data that you see on television comes from the National Weather Service. I was sure to remind him that the Hurricane Hunter airplanes were ours and had much more cool factor that his measly Tornado hunting radar sites. We'll... to be fair the Nexrad radar sites are darn cool too, and IMHO a good use of taxpayer dollars. So, to help him out a little I'm spreading the word about the NWS Radar sites.

Next tag is your scoot either in front of the actual Nexrad Radar dome, or in front of the NOAA facility that operates and maintains the radar as shown below:

OK DOD sites are acceptable as well.

Again, if you can not get to the actual radar site , the NOAA sign in front of the facility is fine.

Ok, my day off so I'm all set to go find this thing! But now I feel like an idiot!
I spent a decent amount of time on that website but have no idea how to read it or how to find the actual locations of the radar locations....
It just kept showing me the radar results for LA... not where the actual tower is.
I was pretty psyched to go get this tag... but my "research" time is over.. gotta get my day started. grrrrrr!

The site above shows basically where they are. Try googling for more information about the specific site near you. You should be able to find the address for the site, then Google maps to see where that is. Once on your way there, look for the big dome in the sky. This is going to take a little bit of Internet detective work, but not too much.

I only gave myself about 30 minutes to research this before an appointment this morning... then I'm off and running. By the time I get back my day will be over.
I'll poke around when I get home. If I luck out, there will be one really close that I can still get.

I did the same thing last night, Robyn. It seems they don't really give out the address for the radars. Maybe it's security issue.

There are other sources of information on the Internet.





Hmmm What's the big white round thing in the Sat Image?

I got the latitude/longitude of the San Diego site from the NOAA link, and then found a website that converted latitude/longitude to an address. It gave me a street name, no real number address, but that's a good start.

That was a tough one to locate, Scootrama! Hard to find location info for these but after much research I was able to find it. 8)
