so the trick is to go take a pic of *MY* city hall.. i was a little backwards on how this tag thread worked! awesome, I'll try to hit this one up if i can.

OK, I just noticed this thread. Maybe more people will come on after a while. I'm betting that there are a lot of others, like me, who stopped checking the scooter tag threads because the locations were too far away to have a chance to participate.

I like the idea of a similar location tag. More people can play and we will see more of the country. I think an exact locations rule could easily cause the game to degenerate into another regional tag because there are large areas of the country that are too far apart for the game to easily "cross borders."

Still, why not just break the nationwide tag into two threads. One for exact locations, and one for similar locations? Simple enough.
The exact location tag sounds like a real fun challenge, and there is no reason people can't play in both arenas.

The only problem with similar location is the rules will probably have to be made up as we go along. Is it OK to follow big rooster with little roosters? If it's a big camel statue, does it have to be followed by camels or another big animal statue. I'd say both, otherwise the rules are going to be longer that the thread. Then let 'r fly.

I'm in. I guess I'll have to charge my camera batteries.
I guess I'll have to find a way to get my scoot over the layer of ice and snow in my yard so I can get it out the back gate.

We have rules, they are working just fine, this is NOT an exact location tag. The person who gets the tag chooses the next tag. It's VERY SIMPLE.

Austin City Hall,

Horrible picture but there is really no good place to park for a good photo as it is on 4 pretty large roads. The parking is underground. Every Friday at lunch they have live music in the courtyard to the left of my scoot.

Next tag will be around lunch time (Texas time) today.

Okay next tag. Sorry I know it limits some because they aren't in every city but get a shot of your scoot by a state capital building.

This is the Texas state capital in the center of Austin. It I believe is the biggest except for the white house that is.

Sorry I can't join in on the fun just yet, waiting for something I could tag and be fast enough... For now enjoying the sights!
As far as I remember from my visit to the Texas Capitol, it is the largest in square footage of all state capitols and is only smaller in total size then National Capitol in Washington. It also surpasses the National Capitol in height... Not the White House

I know how you feel. Another tag will come along you can get along with others you can't. I felt the same way with the big camel. I have yet to see a big camel in Austin so far and it has some strange stuff!

Old State Capital, Raleigh, NC. The Governor still has an office in the building, although the state representatives meet now in a drab edifice built in the '60s'. There's some Confederate dude on top of that obelisk, but I would have gotten run over by a bus to get everything in the photo.

In the spirit of being the true trouble maker I am deep inside, and for those of you who have suggested you can have it both ways... I present you two tags.

First in the spirit of the original post ( and since I tagged Royal Gorge many pages back ) here's an exact tag that that should move it across the country pretty fast and likely some others who went to Amerivespa can carry it along:



Second, for the modified ( similar location in your town ) rules: Krispy Kreme America's Favorite Doughnut Shop. They're in almost 50 states, and extra points if the neon "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign is lit.

Hey cool capital building. I think Texas is kind of 'over the top' but hey that is what this place is all about.

The cool part about tagging 'similar' tags is it is like a tour of the country. Anyone interested in tagging these things on Google Map similar to the way PudnRider has so diligently done for the Austin Tag?

I've got a Krispy Kreme not too far away. Does the neon sign have to be half-way burnt out?

Our Krispy Kreme shut it's doors awhile ago. Sacramento had three but they all have closed

Looks like a Krispy Kreme to me. Too bad they shuttered them all up in SAC. I swear when that neon sign comes on, people will cross over four lanes of traffic to turn in for steaming, melt in your mouth, deep fried sugary sweet doughnuts.

You know all world cultures have their fried dough....

When they first opened there would be a line of cars out of their parking lots and into the streets then about a year later you never had a line then a couple years after that they started to close. We had three. Sad times, I enjoyed those warm doughnuts, mmmmmm

Wow I am shocked they all closed. I remember when they came to sac and all the hoopla I didn't like them that much. That business will be remembered as a trend of this decade that fizzled.

I'm diabetic and when the donuts were
first introduced I bought 100 shares of
their stock. It was $14.00 a share and
by the time I sold them it was up to
$48.00 a share, I love trends. I may not
have eaten any donuts but I did get
something better, a profit. 8)

The biggest crack up to me about KK is that when they were getting slammed for being so unhealthy they came out with whole wheat donuts. They were still glazed and fried. Kind of reminds me of the KFC commercials they got in trouble for because they were trying to say how their chicken was healthy.

Next Tag: Your local (city, state, whatever) Art Museum

I took this picture at the main entrance because the construction of the new museum buildings on the grounds looks like a concentration camp: not too scenic.

The NC Museum of Art was funded by the state congress with $1 million in 1947. A huge amount of money in those days, not to mention the first state to do such a thing. Recently it has become the first American museum to return a Nazi looted art object to the heirs of it's original owner without litigation.

Go figure for us hillbillies in the south...

TAG!!! It's not a great shot, but the guy that owns the fire truck had it surrounded by other cars in his lot.

This is from the front of the fire truck. Neither shot is really good. Wish the owner would have had it out as he typically does during the week. Maybe one day he will restore it and display it proper.
