DirtyRAT, you are welcome! You need an excuse to get out of the city. When I went to Thurlow Dam a couple of weeks ago the route I took was about 40 miles each way. I much prefer riding in rural areas. Have fun!

On the chain of lakes in Madison, WI, there is a dam just off of Lake Waubesa. The gates are currently wide open, due to heavy rains we have had recently. Here it is:

I saw one a few blocks from the house but thought, that's too easy so I went for a ride and have been sitting here cropping my pictures, etc. When I logged back on you had posted one second ago. I'm sharing my late pictures. By the way, I think the tag was A(singular) cone.

Looking in maps.google.com the closest dam that I can get near on a scooter is about 100 miles, one way.

Wife changed our cell phone account and we all are on the shared data plan. So I got a "smart phone." 3" x 5" x .5" and can photo and post almost anywhere.

Paladin, I've never posted a tag with a smart phone. I may have to start doing that to keep up with DirtyRat.

Anyway, here is the weather vane. The wind blew it over.

I have never heard of a Bocce ball or lawn bowling court. I guess I'll sit out this round.

Everyone in San Diego knows about the Scripps Aquarium submarine, so that one was a no-brainer.

I'm sure Paladin can find Bocce or Lawn bowling in Los Angeles. Heck, he found a plethora of tanks!

In the '70's I spent many hours in manholes. Some were fun, like the sidewalk manhole at 7th and Hope. Great view of young ladies walking pass.

That is in Little Italy right? I believe I sat right there about 10 years ago and watched the tournament during Columbus day with an old man named Tony who was from Naples. He said Italians like the climate in California because it is most like home. He also said he was banned from playing in the tournament because he beaned a ref with a ball when he got mad about a call.

Open manhole covers are rare here in FL but maybe I will get lucky on the way home.

LOL! great story, and YES: it's 'Amici Park' in Little italy San Diego. I have yet to see some Bocce actually being played there, oddly.

hahah...I was driving around downtown San Diego, looking for a manhole that was open, to no avail, even though they do exist everywhere.

Since we have a new tag: I drive by one of those infernal L&L joints on my way home, and will tag it.

My next tag should be less restrictive, I hope

I thought a Hawaiian BBQ would have be trivial. But he was right. I looked at Google Maps and Montgomery AL ain't got Hawaiian BBQ. Or Peruvian, or Korean, or Salvadoran, or....

And I thought I was looking at an easy tag. You want a kite that is being pulled by someone out on the ocean? Or just a kite.

Either one, airborne. The definition of 'kite' seems to apply to each instance I mentioned, so I included both so as to cover the smartypants wondering about kite boarders, which are often found on windy days on inland lakes and on coastal beaches.

Is good to learn something new. Kite surfing doesn't need big waves. I see that it is big in the east as well: http://www.lakeeriekiteboarding.com/ And with a parawing kite they can tack into the wind, just as a sail boat can.
Also dunes and snow (but not in July in the U.S.) as well as water.

Ok, time to make a Kite... does it count if I attach it to the scooter to get it to fly? 40 mph should do it right??? somebody grab a camera, Quick!

LOL...yeah, but I do recall there being wind in Madison. Just find a kite, whether it's yours or not, and snap a pic of it IN THE AIR with your scooter.
