This should put an end to all the back and forth bickering about foreign fuel ratings being different from US with the reasoning that "their" 95 is "our" 87.

I just read my manual again. Not only did it call for 90 octane minimum, it called for (M+R)/2 Method 90, which is "our" rating.

The best part is, it is also on the WARNING decal on the headset, right below the speedometer. Same thing, (M+R)/2 Method 90.

So, for those who haven't removed your decals, you can read it for yourself.

I must credit Woodenhead for steering me back to the manual. Again, I knew it said 90 but didn't pick up on the rating method.

Of course, this information won't matter to those who swear their scooter "runs fine" on the kitty pee. Their minds are made up and they are socking away that quarter they save on every tank of gas.

Under "Measurement Methods."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

At any rate, for twenty cents? I'm sticking with my 93 octane.
