I recently bought an 09 GTS Super. I LOVE it. The only question I had is for other owners. I was wondering if it is normal to hear a sort of rattling coming from the rear left side of the scooter, near the rear tire, when you come to a stop. When I am coasting off the accelerator and begin to come to a stop I hear a rattle that I did not hear on my previous ET4. It sounds like something is loose, but based on my eyeball inspection, I don't see what could be causing it. I thought maybe this is just how the new ones sound. Any thoughts? I don't want to waste my time taking it in to the shop if this is normal and nothing is wrong. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi there Jason!

I also have a new 2009 GTS Super. I don't recall hearing any rattling coming from the rear left, it sounds like something may be loose. If it was me, I'd take it back to the dealer for them to check it out. Maybe others here on the forum have an idea of what it could be.

Could it be your rollers chattering? When my LX was new, it would "clack" a little bit at idle when I was first warming it up.

Almost certain it's the rollers. If it's more of a "clack clack" than a rattle, then that's it.

My dealer told me that we would hear that out of our 2 scooters. rollers and belt break in.

If you are worried just get the dealer to check it out for you to make sure.

I do have an of thread question.... My wife and I have Pirelli tires on our scoots, her front scooter tire feels like something may be wrong. Has anyone had any tire issues with the pirellis? I also noticed like literally 9-10 wheel weights on her front rim. Most all others only have 2-4 weights.

damn, 9 weights? Ask the dealer to re balance that wheel. We had a scooter come in like that once (an excessive number of weights) from the factory and it was out of balance. go figure.

Not to say that'll fix the problem, but it's a good place to start. Not all Pirellis roll perfect either, but I'd try the balancing first. It's cheaper

Got my 2009 GTS at the beginning of August and have about 1,000 miles on it to date. No noise from where you describe.

I've seen (on two different occasions, on two different bikes) wheels "balanced" by the Piaggio factory where a ridiculously large number of weights (like, 10) were added to the wheel. I took them off, and guess where the heavy spot in the wheel was? Right where the weights were. Methinks someone at the Piaggio factory doesn't know how to use the balancer machine, and just puts weights on until they reach some kind of maximum-allowed-by-profit-margin limit. I'm virtually certain of it.

Thanks guys!! I was going to carry it back. I have never seen that damn many weights on any wheel. I was just considering the "what if" factor.
