So my rear tire slid out from under after hitting really slipery streetcar tacks and I am weighing my paint options. The legshield trim I am going to do myself for the fun of it. The paint I don't know yet. My dealership has a guy that can do the cowl and bits here and there cheap but the dent will still be there. I am toying with the idea of doing the cowls myself by tapping them off and the using some satin black spray paint. Has anyone done this? Any tips if I do do it? There was a silver gts with a similar paint job on here a week ago but now I can't find it.

Hmmm
I thinkin' spray paint would look like trash. I have never done it before but... just doesn't sounds good. I layed mine down the day after I got it (ouch ) and put a couple small dents and scatches on it. I went on ebay and bough some Vespa touch-up paint (Vintage Green) that came with a clear coat also. Now, I STILL have yet to try it out, but my guess is that option would be better than spray paint. It was cheap too, only like $10.

instead of painting just collect a few hundred stickers and start placing them on the scoot.

What about Line-X? They are one of two common companies that spray pickup truck beds (the other being Rhino). The process gives you sort of a hard, rubbery, pebbly surface. Indestructible. I did it to my pickup about 5 years ago, and even after hauling all kinds of nasty things in it most of that time, it still looks like it was sprayed yesterday.
Most guys do the inside of the bed and the tailgate, and then keep going up over the sides of the box to provide a grippy surface for loading and so forth. I've seen people with off road vehicles have it sprayed on the whole lower half of the body too. The shop that did mine is in northern VA. They also had a contract with some guys that do underwater remote camera rigs, like the stuff used to find the Titanic. The sub guys wanted a special bright yellow treatment, and the shop did it for them. So presumably, you can get it in colors other than black. Come to think of it, I wonder if it makes sense to spray the underside of a scooter with that stuff. The area gets pretty grimy, and that Line-X stuff would prevent scratches from turning into rust zones. |

Just grind off all the paint with a grinding wheel, and leave it. If you are going to ruin your scooter, do it right.

Rattlecan paint jobs rock. Nothing says, "Urban Assault Scooter," like a rattlecan paintjob. I say go for it!

This is how I dealt with it.... All I can say is "WOW" Wish I had done that when I repainted my scooter. Soooooooooooo pretty.
