Hi all - Hope everyone is well!!! I live in Manhattan and I am just about to buy a used GT 200 2007 Vespa with around 600 mi on it on eBay in new york and am having a hell of a time trying to figure out the particulars of this transaction:

First things first,
is $4200.00 a good price?
I've inspected the exterior of the bike and it looks good but i have no idea what to expect inside

Second,
Title Registration Insurance questions: The seller has advised that he can gift the title, registration and license plates to me and alll i need to do is mail is a form to the DMV - is this true? I just need a helmet to ride away with it... (Hooray)

Third,
Parking -
Any ideas of how best to handle this ? I've heard about the removable plate and far off the the sidewalk parking but am worried about tickets ....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know about your state's laws on tag, title. Sorry. But $4200 smackers is a great price. Make sure that either the first (600 mile service) service has been done or go get it done yourself. Great bike, my wife loves hers. 8)

Gifting thru NYSDMV usually requires proof of a family relationship between the two involved parties, I've seen it with vehicles but never with registrations or plates. Go to DMV and get solid answers from the people who will be processing the paperwork, it just doesn't sound right. Mailing it away really doesn't sound right as DMV requires you to "show up" for the initial registration (unless done thru a dealer), can't be done online either. Search it, you'll see what I mean. Good luck and happy trails...

4200 is a great price, especially for a 2007 with only 600 miles. The GT 200 just can't be beat for two wheeling fun...and plenty of power/speed when you need it!

Agreed. Get the service if you can and see if you're eligible for the extended warranty. Doesn't it go by purchase date?

Always happy to see another NYC scooterist. Welcome.

You might want to check out the New York Scooter Club Forum. We have a ton of specific FAQ's regarding license, registration, parking, laws, etc that are, of course, very detailed and specific to NYS and NYC.

For example, our "buying a used bike checklist" has info that'll probably answer most of your questions

Congrats on the new ride, hope to see you out on the road sometime!
