http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vespa-px-200-e-in-need-of-a-good-home_W0QQitemZ180296126010QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180296126010&_trkparms=39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A7|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Looking at the above item on eBay at the moment.... for 500 pounds on buy it now... and has a bit of real Italian history to it too! (which is why I'm not tempted to switch to the frame the guy also has... yet.) - surely I could register this as an import with current Italian frame etc? Although I can see a few bits of rust, etc, could be a good way to learn how to restore a scooter?

I've noticed decent condition PX200's go for a at least 200 pounds more than this?

I'd probably be quite willing to set this aside as a first project and be willing to pump some money into it etc. , over time,

I have asked the seller about the history, how many KM's on the clock and also what year it is.... waiting for a reply now.

Thanks!
Dan

Apparently, "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing."

I didn't win/buy it, I've emailed the seller about why it's been ended early, hopefully it doesn't have bad history behind it (e.g. stolen, the other cowl not pictured is missing or mashed up or the like), am still keen to get my mits on that PX...

Seems like it's a lot cheaper than other PX200's out there and even if the total price after i spent some money on it, made it cost a little more than other PX's, at least I'd learn something, really keen to get my hands on one of these, been checking eBay every few days.... PX's (esp 200's) rarely come up for sale in local classifieds in my area.

I am keen to get a "project-condition" PX, so I can work on it

You maybe lucky and find one on scootertrader.com or have a look at places like scooterboyworld.com or beedspeed form

i spent a few weeks trawling through places like the above and also gumtree, and it seems i was quite lucky cos p200 are getting harder to find in decent nick, mine cost me £800 (after heavy negotiation ) and apart from a few patches of bubbling paintwork everything is pretty good, gave it a new paint job and a few xtra bits and pieces and its looking hot.

did you pass your test? cos if you didnt you cant ride a p200 anyway unless you get a px125 frame and stick a p200 lump in it.

Those are good websites, Thank you, will take a good look at them later tonight.

Yep, I passed my test, don't really fancy a PX125 with a lump in it as I'll have to go to DVLA and report the modification,

You're right, harder to find in decent condition, I want it to last me a good few years at the least, I've spent about 2-3 weeks keeping an eye out for them already, but those websites are good however.

Do you have a pic of your scoot?

That's looking good - army style!

I have a few more questions, hope you can help me out

Am I right in saying that the P200E engine is more powerful than the PX200 engine due to the fact that they smoothed a few things out in the PX200 and added things like autolube? Is this similar to the reason they upgraded the ET4 engines with the leader/pre-leader stuff (sorry I am not technical - soon will be though!)

My other question is, is a "Douglas" model one that is made in the UK? I think I read somewhere, years ago, there was a Douglas factory in Kingswood, Bristol, UK (my city!) that had the right to make Vespa's several decades ago? Is this no longer the case? The age of the scoot in question is 1990's.

Thanks!

Even if the P200E has a little more juice to it I believe I read in another thread that the gearing is better in the PX200 (anyone?).
