I used to have a BMWK1200S and so my feet could only go one place, on the pegs - but now I have all this room on a floor in front of me. Does anyone fold out the pillion pegs and use those? My feet seem to hang half way over the edge sometimes. What works for you?

Yes!
I ride a motorbike as well, small one, but on my ET2, my feet are ALWAYS at the back end of the floorboard... so if I happen to carry a pillion, feet always bump into them! My next question is though, why an earth do you need a K1200S in somewhere like Hong Kong?! Such a small place... (My parents are from HK, I was born in the UK) |

I used to have a BMWK1200S when I lived in Australia about a year ago. It would be torture to have an S in Hong Kong - The island is only about 15km across and it is a 50km/h everywhere - it would never get out of second gear. Some of the petrol heads go out to the airport and back so they can get up to 100km/h and it costs $12.oo to use the toll road.

One of the great things about scooters is that there is no right answer here. There are several WRONG answers, such as dragging your feet but the floorboards are designed to allow flexibility to a multitude of different sized riders. And, yes, sometimes on the freeway I'll pop out the passenger pegs and use them if I'm seated far enough back in a tuck for aerodynamics, but I usually just stretch my legs out further forward.

I rarely seem to put mine forward. I like to have them back underneath me with the heels of my boots touching the passenger footpegs. I have tried to ride feet forward, but it just didn't feel right.

I usually start out by putting my feet in shoes first, then when riding i put them up on the handle bars.

I've been thinking for a while that it would be nice to have "highway pegs" of sorts, like on the big cruiser motorcycles. Some slip out/down peg (like the passenger pegs) that pops out of the legshield.
I'm 6'1 and sometimes I want to stretch my legs out forward on long rides. Having a place to put them on the side of the legshield would be brilliant (possibly dangerous, but brilliant nonetheless...) |

Hadn't thought about it, probably because I was instinctively thinking chrome-esque in line with the trim/passenger pegs/etc (and that the concept of horse related items rarely cross the mind of a born and bred New Yorker... ) |

When riding solo, I like to put my feet on the passenger pegs, I feel it helps with better balance on the freeway and on curves.
To each their own when it comes to riding style. Inkslinger, Id love to see a photo of that riding style. |

On my Scarabeo, which I had the longest, I usually just had my feet on the floorboard. It doesn't curve upwards into the legshield, so there's really not much choice. Although, on some longer rides, I'd get bored and pop out the passenger footpegs and pretend I was on a teeny weeny little sportbike. Very handy that I could actually unfold the pegs while riding. Took a little practice.

The Vespa S has floorboards extended up inside the legshield. One reviewer suggests riding with feet up on the legshield http://2strokebuzz.com/index.php?p=4294. I've been trying this out and it does give a unique feeling of control over the scoot.

A pie chart?
I looked at the post and thought that must be a typo - what was I thinking when I typed "pie". I was thinking of a bar graph or a cupcake chart - but how on earth did it end up as "pie". I Googled the word and found that it appears on this forum three times and it is also the name for a list of rules in World of Warcraft. They use a pie chart to agree on the strength of their weapons. I'll think I'll just pop out for a quick ride on my Vespa now.... |

I typed "p-i-e" (without quotes and without dashes) and the word pie come out instead. Thanks Jess - you have a unique sense of humour. I like that. btw Jess, could you do something similar with swear words? - my kids read this. |

Normally I keep em pretty centrally placed, but when I've got a load off the front seat hook I'll sometimes wind up with my feet sticking forward heal on the upslope cruiser style.

I'll probably just have to go on ignoring the occasional foul language and innuendo. At least the vast majority here watch their language and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer bunch of folks. Very knowledgeable, too. |

My other ride is a Suzuki SV650S. When I first got my ET4, my feet were always as far back as possible. When I ride alone, it's still the case. These days, I ride the girlfriend more, so to avoid tangling of the legs, I move my feet towards the front.
