Just wondered. I have been doing some measurements. How much fuel is left in your tank when the light comes on?

I have slightly over 2 litres in my GTS 300 Super when the reserve light comes on, which is about 0.5 US gallons. Same display as the GT!

I have actually measured this properly by using the fuel pump to drain the tank into a measuring jug. The quoted capacity of the tank is exactly as stated - 9.2 litres.

I average 23.9 km/l so I now know that when the light comes on I can do a minimum of 45km before dry, and that is beng cautious. I can get 200km out of a full tank, maybe 220km - say 120 miles, and this in London traffic....

Good topic! My wife and I discuss this regularly. When we "fill up" the tanks only seem to hold about 1.90 gallons??? the vespa site says it is 2.64 gallons. My light on my 250 comes on when i am on my last fuel bar (digital). My wife's GT comes on when she gets below a 1/4 of tank area. but we do seem to go about 120 miles before the lights come on. I actually made it to 130 when i first got it before the fuel light.
so... I guess the reserve should get me about 30 miles??? Well about 2 months ago I was riding my wife's GT. Fuel light came on and scooter just didn't want to go anymore. hmmm.....

I go up to 16 miles once my light comes on solid (that's a one way commute, pretty simple for me).

I've never run it dry, and I don't want to.

A fill up for me is 2.1 gallons though so if she actually holds 2.5 gallons I could go quite a bit farther.

I can go about 50 yards once the reserve light comes on. This has happened twice. Reserve = empty for me.

I don't want to know how far. I just get gas when the light come on.

And I think that it's different for just about every scooter, no? An approximation, but I think it's like speedometers. They're all kinda have their own personality.

yea when I drove my friend GTS for the day it came on with 2 bars, if I remember correctly. I just remember I was shocked because it was kind of early... I don't know.. maybe I am just used to cars and pushing it to below empty. ha

Well then let me be the one to scold you about cars...I don't know where the fuel pump is on a Vespa, but I do on most cars. It's in the tank. The gas in the tank helps to keep it cool, don't run your car to empty. It also allows sediment to get into the pump and line (or so they tell me, but it makes no sense.) I just rarely ever do it.

And right now I'm afraid that we're all going to run out of gas, so I always fill up at 1/2 tank. THE SKY IS FALLING!

2 bars. I consistently get 65-70mpg. One of these days I will keep track of miles per bar. Perhaps that will give a ballpark.

Oh I know what you mean! I am hoping I can make mine last 3-4 more years! I can afford a vespa payment, but not vespa + car payment. HA. hmmm.

Amen, brother! (Or sister...sorry for the assumption.) I'm going to go shopping for some nice gloves and ear muffs today. I rode to school one day last week and thought I was going to die. It's cold at 40˚ when you're doing 50mph.

It was meant for you. Sorry. I assumed you were a guy...because you were the one who's girlfriend wrecked his scooter, but you could have been a lesbian...I just didn't know. Some people who I think are one gender are another, and others I have seen and still don't know.

On my GT I always runs it until is almost empty. After the light turns on, when is a little bit less than the last dash I can run 30-40 miles. I always fill up 2.2 gallons. the fuel light first strtas blink a little bit on accelerations and then turns off on brakes. I count 30 miles after is steady on.
