Anyone experience this problem?
The speedometer is working intermittently.
It hangs up at different speeds.
Has yet to go back to 0 mph.

Told dealer about the problem.
He said give it a couple of weeks to loosen up.
If problem continues he will order a new one and install
It under full warranty.

The cable may be kinked or have a plastic, tie-wrap that is too tight. You can check yourself by following the cable path from the speedo down it's path. Several people have posted about having this on various models.

Thanks, I will go check to see if that is the problem.

Forget the Speedo. Wide open everywhere!! hahahaha ! Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon

Is Vespa just no caring about their product anymore? It has seemed to me and I was told by a gentleman once that Vespas aren't made with the care of the older ones like the ET, P, ect....

If the speedo is "hanging up" it won't be a cable problem. Cable problems only cause judder.

Hummm!! problem fixed "I think".
I did 3 things.
1. Gently jiggled the speedo cable.
2. lifted the front wheel off the ground while on the center stand and
spun the front tire forwards and backwards as fast as I could by
hand a few times.
3. did the old finger tap on and all around the speedo houseing,
which did return the needle to 0.

Took it for a ride, seems to be working better now.

I certainly hope that "not" to be the case.
For the $8,500 I spent, there better had been some caring put
into it's manufacturing.

A gentleman in a city close by I spoke with was discussing this and he thought that Vespa quality had gone down in the last few years. I hope not, but look at all the petty issues these newer Vespas like yours and mine are having. It almost just makes me sad.

Well I have only had my GTV for about a week now.
Think I will hold back on the judgment for a little while longer.

I will say this, I was indeed a might disappointed in the quality
of my last 06 Harley that I just sold. Don't think I will be
returning to the HD brand anytime soon.

Not that this is the same thing, but my brand new GTV glovebox doesn't open anymore. Well, I should say, It opens when I force it to open. I'm waiting to go into my first service to get it fixed. I know I could do it myself, but it seems a bit much. I mean you'd think they could at least have a working glovebox. eh. oh well...... I only paid $8500, that's like pennies under the couch.

seems like the production is hurried, everywhere not just at Vespa. Man, on Top Gear the other day Jeremy Clarkson tested the Ford F-150 SVT Lighting. poor reviews!!!!! Maybe the vehicle manufacturers need to wake up.

Top Gear tested a used '04 truck? Why?

BTW, I had a Lightning...for something so heavy (4800 lbs) to run so well, for so little money (I paid $28,500 new)..it's an awesome truck.

Mine was an '01, and with nothing other than a Magnaflow exhaust and an open element air filter, it would run consistent mid 13's at around 102 mph.
I put about 40,000 miles on the truck, sold it, and I last saw it a month ago...it now has over 100,000 miles and runs like a top. The guy doesn't drive it much anymore, due to gas prices, but it's still one helluva fun pickup.

He liked the power and the truckiness of it just the interior, and some other few things were rated poorly.

Oh, sure...interior was kinda plain, and the radio sucked. The Lightning was really a parts bin truck. It had the 5.4 block from the Navigator, which meant forged internals to handle forced induction, the transmission was from a Super Duty truck...nothing fancy in the interior, other than the nice seats. But it kicked all manner of ass!

Yep he said it was bad. I figured that with a top hot rod truck they (FORD) would have spent time on the interior.

Being Ford, and not some high end exotic manufacturer, they had to cut corners to meet a price point. They decided to cut corners in the interior, and give the customer what he or she wanted...the real stuff, engine, trans, suspension, the hard parts to do the job. Ford knew the aftermarket could supply anything customers might want to jazz up the interior.

Personally, my truck could have come with an AM radio for all I cared. The whine and rumble of that supercharged 5.4 was all the music I wanted!
