I'm looking into a Stella. Has anyone had difficulty with them?
Thanks.

At 3200 miles and one year, I found I was losing about 1/3 of the tranny oil every 200 miles (not leaking from the bottom of case in garage either). At the same time, the plug would foul at the same interval, and need to be replaced by the roadside to get it to start again.

I didn't particularity smell gas in the tranny oil, but something was going on, and I couldn't get my service center to want to act...they kept saying they needed the scoot another week to test ride it, etc. They couldn't see that a seal might have blown early in it's life and didn't want to go digging after it, for example.

When I replaced the engine with a Piagio PX200, all problems solved, almost no maintaince needed. New engine was much smoother.

Thanks. Maybe I'll look at PXs when the time comes. I guess it's a matter of quality control.
Again, thanks for the input.
How's the new one?

A Stella like any 2 stroke vintage scooter with last a very long time I have a stella with over 97000 miles on it only thing to have really gone bad was the starter and fuel line replaced and it has had 3 shifting crosses you get about 20000 miles out of a shifting cross depending how you ride

key things

Change oil every 1000-1500 miles

Clean the Engine every 1000-1500 miles

tighten the head bolts every 5000miles

use the same 2stroke oil every time I like Castrol 2T I buy it now 20 gallon drum i know crazy but I run a shop

it is a great all around scooter if you like to do maintance to keep it up if not try a more modern scooter

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't mind doing a bit of maintenance. There seems to be plenty of online information about how to, etc.
