I thought it was going to be in San Jose (proper). Are all the festivities shaping up to be in L.G., now?

I'm planning on being there. Will be riding up, and hopefully by then Corbin will have their MP3 saddle done, so I can make a stop by Hollister on the way.

In the greater interest for scooterists, the central location for staging events will be at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains (Los Gatos/Saratoga).

The idea of staging everything in Downtown San Jose was tempting, but ride time out to the hills (for as many people we could expect) would be a full-hours worth in itself. We have a venue for the Main Event and are still working out all the details, from a Thursday ride to possibly even a Monday post-rally get-together.

We'll keep everyone informed as details are ironed-out.

Beautiful location ... Saratoga is cool ... but horrible timing over the 4th of July weekend. Local attendance may be good but nationwide attendance will be down.

Awesome... AmeriVespa will finally be on the same side of the country as I am, therefore within "reasonable" riding distance. And I should have my GTV by the end of the year at latest, so I'll actually have a Vespa to ride to it! My calendar has been marked.

Ok, now the important question. Anyone else from the Denver/Boulder area planning to ride all the way there? C'mon, you know you want to...

I told Caligurl I would look into some low cost "hotel" arrangements. One of my ideas is to use the dorms at SJSU for those looking for the low cost alternative. The rates are as follows:

Double- $30.00 per night per person - NO linen
Double- $37.00 per night per person - linen included
Single- $53.00 per night per person - NO linen

Suites: Campus Village (much nicer)
Double- $55.00 per night per person (linen incl.)
Single- $70.00 per night per person (linen incl.)

Hotels in the San Jose and Los Gatos area will typically cost $90 plus ($90 is for a two star location).

The campus is close to the convention center and as such there are tons of "real hotels" within walking distance as well. Other advantages of the downtown location include the huge amount of night life (i.e. clubs, bars, restaurants, etc) all within walking distance so one can party hard without the fear of DUI.

Anyway I just thought I would throw the idea into the mix.

We are looking into accomodations for a rally of this scale. We're still a good amount of time out from it, but we will have details in due time.

A handful of us live near decent/affordable hotels not necessarily a stone's throw away from the venues. We'll let everyone know, possibly setting up escorted/group rides to the events/venues.

Amerivespa 2009 will have rides and events around the valley with the July 4th day show to be near Los Gatos. We will take full advantage of our great ride routes, great weather, locales, and supporting scooterist community.

Online pre-registration will be posted earlier than in the last few years. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged with discounts for early pre-registration and VCOA membership.

Finish that restoration, customize that mod or vintage scoot! Amerivespa has many concourse categories so unique scooter entries are encouraged. We want the best scoots to be entered for the concourse competition.

We are jazzed to be able to stage Amerivespa and the VCLG 20th Anniversary celebration in the South Bay next July.

This may be a silly question but does anyone know if scoot rentals are available in the area? It's tempting but a little far for me to drive... although....

Think of it this way : a majority of the local squids will be out of town, giving scooters more room to ride.

I kid you not; we rode up to Alice's this year during Moto GP, and it was next to empty. A few cruisers, handful of sports. MORE TWISTIES FOR US!!!

We don't have the full itinerary yet. Both hotels and camping will be available at and nearby the day show. We will list availability as soon as we get them confirmed.

BTW, there will be unlimited beer and wine from 12:00 on during the July 4th day show for Amerivespa registrants. Soft drinks for tea totalers...
