Does anyone know or have an educated guess if the Malossi 80cc kit will fit it. Or if the 150 will also be treated with 4 valves too?

The new Vespa S comes with 4 valves for better (and much needed) power and fuel economy.

Due out 4th quarter of this year, which is right now... so hopefully here before years end.
MSRP is $3,199 - $100 cheaper than the LX. My rep had no idea if the engine would appear in either the LX 50 or Fly 50 at a later date. A 4V 150cc engine was not discussed. |

Yes I have heard from Vespa Canada that there is a new Vespa S 50 that will have Piaggio's new 50 cc four stroke engine that will provide power much like that of a two stroke 50 cc engine. That will be a much needed power boost to a slow bike.

Normally @ the Eicma 2008, Piaggio wil anounce the new engine range.
As for as i know, all carbu engines will disappear and be replaced with injection ones. |

I'm seeing the foreign-press Intermot stories coming out today and it's just the 4v 50 S and the new MP3 varieties. But yeah, EICMA usually presents a few surprises, (that we won't see in the U.S. for another year or two, ha.)

If Piaggio makes a 4V head for the 150, I'll be looking for a crashed one to get a cylinder head from.

I don't get this. If you want your bike to go faster than 30, then don't buy a 50 cc bike, right?
Here if it goes faster than 30 or 35 you have to treat it like a motorcycle, regardless of engine size. Why buy a 50 cc bike just to kit it and go faster and have to plate, and insure it? |

I love taking things apart and tweeking it. Personal thing, with no rhythm or reason. Insurance and plate, in BC, Canada, cost the same for scooters or motorcycles up to 110cc. So a 50cc cost the same as a 80cc. The LX50 (50cc) top speed is fine (70km/hr or roughly 40mph ) but its slow to get there. A kitted LX50 (80cc) gets there quicker, goes faster and can stay there.
