I took my beasty baby to the car trim guy. Roy cut 1.7" off the seat's height. It is at an even 29" high. I also had him add some foam to the seat for more support to my lower back... Though I still have to wear the harley boots which have 2.5" soles, the lowered seat made a huge difference in my confidence to hold the scoot on inclines and declines...Know that the grades I deal with are significant. I can now flat foot on side and half foot on the other side. So I am very happy...The cost was $180 and took 2.5 hours. I waited for it so I could take pics and also to measure where I wanted the buildup to be.
One disappointing feature: Roy Armoraled the seat..So I literally slid to a stop. Thank God, the seat was lower or "Oh Brother."
I don't know what to use to get the slick off...hmmm....Dishwater liquid and warm water, I guess.
I warned him on watching for electronics in the seat and not to take it for granted. So he shaved little at a time. As it turns out there was nothing there to worry about. He took the foam towards the front down the metal and dipped where I sit alittle. Added to the hump for back support...The camera picked up some irregularness that the eye can not see...Believe me I looked.
Love it and I feel so much safer......cheers....jacq

Notice the button and the dislocated electronic dodad...You guess is better than mine...All went swimmingly well.

Bonus Mod: Opening and closing my garage door has been an issue...No more...This small Genie opener is the perfect size to fit right under the brake...It has two layers of velcro behind it to get it to stick securely. No way does it interfer with the brak

That is wonderful! You made it your own. Seeing the pics really helped understand what you did. With short legs, the leg room isn't an issue, so the higher backrest would be a welcome addition!

Bravo!

Great job, Jacq. I made it to Austin this weekend but had to come back yesterday (before I planned) to take care of some stuff. When I come back I'll get that done to mine. I'm sure it feels better.

The button is the Pet Carrier Light Switch and the Electrical connector is for the seat sensor.

Jacq.....Terrific! I'm jealous! Want that.....Need that lower seat! Great pictures (as usual) of the before and after! So glad YOU love it and touchdown now! The seat looks slick too (not as in slippery, but as in cool 8) better than original...IMO. And the price is definitely worth every penny....safety first. Armorall? OMG! Scrub that crap off!

Wayne has me a tad confused though......is your seat sensor connected and functioning or not? And, what is the "pet carrier light switch button?" Oh, please don't tell me I'm being blonde again

Everything is working perfectly....

The pet carrier light Wayne is referring to is the light that comes on when the back hatch is opened...It's near that No Pets sign you see when the hatch lid is open.

The seat sensor the gizmo that tells the scoot my behind in on the scoot and I want it to start...Remember, the scoot doesn't start unless your sitting on the seat....I was very concerned that this little baby didn't get messed up...

I don't know why some folks are waiting for Corbin to make seats when it's so easy to go to local car trim shop, get the oldest guy there to make the seat...Done. This is not a big deal. I watched the whole thing. There is nothing to mess up. Of course, I'd still put the fear of "you'll pay for a new seat if you screw up" in them, just to be on the safe side...

LOVVV iT..!.!.!

Mine does, I start it and let it warm up all the time while I gear-up. I think the sensor limits the RPMs without a buttocks on it, or keeps the steering from unlocking without a buttocks on it...both related to unlocking the tilt but not affecting starting the scooter I believe.

What is a car trim shop? Can't go, if I don't know? Do tell, Ms J
As far as sensor.....think we have to refer to the mighty mp3 owners manuel....good idea? I'm aware it's there and if Jimc is reading this, he's sighing as the sensor has been discussed here two-trillion times! What the heck is 2 trillion anyway? Laughing emoticon

A car trim shop is a shop that does car upholstery. 2 Trillion = 2,000,000,000,000 or 2 Million Million which I think is a very slight exaggeration.

What shop did you take it to? We haven't found anyone up in DFW that will touch my wife's 500 seat. We may have to come back to Austin for a visit...

Yes. heinlein....just a "mini" exaggeration....but kudo's to you, I wouldn't even be able to write the ca-zillion number out... Wha? emoticon I mean two-trillion number. I will make a note of that for future reference as I will probably exaggerate again. Laughing emoticon Wish I had that in donaro's Oh, & thanks for telling me about a car trim shop....I might check one out locally when I return home from NY

Update on Riding the Lower Seat
Since I've been riding the new lower seat, I can report there is a distinctly different feel to the scoot...Obviously, I feel lower as I ride, but I didn't expect to feel "chopper-like" a few times, as in that cruising vs riding feel...
I am more relaxed at stops and have increasing periods of experiencing a sense of sound support. I am very aware I no longer feel like I'm sticking up really high. There is a definite difference in removing just 1.7 inches. I'm liking it alot more.

After riding the scoot awhile with the seat cut down to 29", I can tell you this is best thing I could have done. I have more control. I am better balanced during the ride. I have more ease of movement when coming to a stop and starting off. The lower center of gravity makes the scoot respond to my sudtle movements. I forget who said it here, but it feels more like riding a responsive horse. The scoot moves with me. Whereas before the cut down, I could say I would direct the scoot to do this or that. The nature of riding has completely changed for the better.
It was the very best thing I could have done...If you are waiting for lightening to strike with Corbin, I would have to say I am so glad I didn't wait. My ride is a 100% better. So if you're wanting to be lower, the seat can go down to 29". Do it. Do it as soon as you can. You will not be sorry. I promise...
Cheers....jacq

Come to Myrtle Beach and Custom Care will do it. While you are here, you can help me convince my wife to move back to Central Texas. I am from Lampasas and she is from San Antonio and we both really miss TEXAS. I have watched every Longhorn Game (BBA 1974)

Oh Papa... you got it bad... I saw the turn off to Lampasas the other day out on Ed Bluestein/183/0ld Bastrop Hwy...Gotta love the way Austinites like to use mulitple names for one road.
Don't even get me started on San Antonio...gosh darn place..it's the only city I've driven where I could see where I needed to go, but couldn't find a road that would take me there...maddening really. City of Pig Trails....I say it with love...

Get you and yours back here pronto..Lots of MP3 company here, Great back roads to ride too...
