How did you know your front bearing is damaged?

My rear wheel bearings are damaged and I'm waiting for parts to get me back on the road. Crying or Very sad emoticon

Out of curiosity, did you ride the beast home after the MOT, wheel it away, or trailer it away? I'm wondering how to go about an MOT test with something that would fail it...

sorry i cant help you with your issue.

They check the side to side action of the wheel hub, if it moves too much they fail it. if you lift your back end and give the wheel a wiggle it should move if your bearings are shot.

i rode it to work, as long as the fail doesnt result in the bike being a death trap then you can take it away and you have 10 days to fix it and bring it back for a free re test. I'm not sure about the legal side of things on that one though

just had a look at the back of the fail test cert and it says that because my scoot was faulty i could have been prosucuted for rideing an unroadworthy vehicle and i still could be prosucuted if i continue to ride it in its preasent state... never mind

There are two bearings in the front hub of the PX. There's a ball-bearing on the left hand side locates the wheel side to side. Then there's a roller bearing on the right side.

If you have much side to side play then it's most likely the ball-bearing. This assumes they measured it right. If you really have that much side play in the bearing then I'd say it's about to come apart.

Other possibilities causing side play:
1. front axle nut is loose
2. play in the front trailing link
3. play in fork bearings

Or it could be a combination of all of the above.
