I need to replace my legshield chrome trim. It got scraped up this weekend. Is it difficult to replace? Do I need special tools or anything?
In other words, is it worth the $60 to let the dealer install it?

Just finished this job on my 200L Wasn`t easy .But if you take your time you should be OK. You must first remove horn cover. Remove emblem just be carefull. Once horn cover is removed you will find two screws going into the plastic glove box area. Please tape and mark screws as you will have different lengths. There are screws under left and rt access covers radiator tank and electrical. One inside the glove box and four at
the bottom of plastic leg shield insert. Insert should be loose now .Pull wires off seat unlock switch Good time to clean contacts inside this switch it just snaps apart. Now you must remove cable going to glove box opener.Needle nose works great [Caution when putting cable back in place make shure you get rocker arm in correct position or glove box door will not open.] Been there done that. I had to remove turn signal light to get at latch with piece of all thread, I closed door before I tried glove box latch Lessons LOL. Un snap fuse block don`t let any wires ground to frame. Step 2 Carefully remove Battery cover remove screws under it.Remove Aft plastic covers ,Remove both foot pegs . Remove outer rubber insert on both sides there are four or five screws under each one. Now the work begins. Na Not really Be careful its plastic Start by centering radius at top and working new trim onto the metal . I used a soft rubber mallet worked out great. My local Sarasota Vespa dealer Great Guy by the way, said sometimes he used a hair drier to help with the bends. I didn`t have a problem with mine. Step3 Put it back together In reverse order Good Luck. Don`t forget about the Latch... Rich |
