This sounds dumb but I can't find information on this anywhere. including the manual After pulling out my MP3 400 battery to charge it, I have had trouble connecting the battery wires (permanent wires that link the electrical system to the battery) to the battery. I remember unscrewing two silver phillips-head screws that were tightly affixed. But when I put the battery back in it's bay, and tried to screw the metal wire loops back on, there were no threads and the screws just sort of dangled there. When I closed the battery compartment cover it seemed to compress everything in place, but that can't be right. I tried putting the screws into the sides of the battery terminal but there are no threads there either. Did I lose a couple of pieces? Thanks in advance.

Each battery terminal should have a square "nut" that is threaded that slides into a slot underneath the post. If you tipped the battery very much in the right direction these can slip out once they are loose.

The screws should be tightened with the nut so that there is solid contact.

Good luck.

there is a nut that was in the back side of the terminal of the battery that must have fell out after you took out the screw. find a proper sized nut that threads on the screw and then slide it behind the terminal then put the screw in the cable lug then thru the terminal and screw into the nut. hope this helps

Thank you, I'll search for the nuts in the battery compartment, and if I can't find them, take the screws into a hardware store.

I wish I lived in a house with a garage. I live in an apt. and park my MP3 in a parking garage where you are really not supposed to work on them. The bikes are lined up close together and I am actually on a slight angle due to being near a built-up area of the floor. If I dump the bike I'm going to cause a domino effect take out all the other bikes in the row. Well it keeps me alert!

you should be able to find them in the battery area or try you closest m/c shops first.

I used to live in NYC Turbojav, and I feel your pain as to finding a decent parking spot, (one reason I moved out of the apple) but is your parking spot inside a building or outside? I don't see any problem doing minor maintenence on a vehicle, but in your case, it seems like you are stuffed in like sardines. Are you in Manhattan?

Any battery shop or motorcycle dealer will have a battery nut & bolt kit for really cheap or free.
