I was installing a headlight flasher and took the plastic cover off my GT bars - the one that covers the brake resevoir next to the mirror stalk on the left side. It turns out that the screw was being held on by rubber cement - it was just glued on. So my unscrewing the screw tore up the rubber cement, and I ended up fabricating a little clip like was on the other side.

Seems kinda weird. Maybe my GT is a collector's item now? Or maybe it was assembled on a Friday afternoon?

Headlight flasher is fantastic, by the way. Cars are allergic to it.
Other side has only rubber cement - screw was glued on by the red stuff.

The mirrors are shipped under the seat.

Sounds like Friday at your dealer - OR if your dealer uses a prep/warehouse service....

Your first pic, where you have the cement, I've just recently glued that area back together on my 07 GTS. It was shot full of hairline cracks: the plastic lug broken through and held only by the metal clip, a 20mm stress crack leading down into the headset cover, the plastic screw hole in the reservoir cover completely detached at the collar.

I noticed this because the reservoir cover was loose. It was held in place by the mirror stem rubber boot only.

I put this damage down to the fact that the flat tip of screw had been in contact with the side of the brake reservoir (it had made a neat wear mark where the surfaces had met) and vibrations between the bars and body had created stress at the screw fixing.

I filed 2mm off the tip off the screw, repaired the broken plastic and put it back together. The screw is still long enough to connect through the lug and clip, but there is now clearance between the flat end and the reservoir.
