In early November, I will traveling to SF to meet with Anchor Brewing Co, Laganitas Brewing in Peteluma and Sierra Nevada in Chico. Would love some Hotel suggestions and restaurant ideas....Would rather stay in a local B&B than the Hyatt. Also I love local Dive Restaurants. I lived in South Berkeley and worked at Anchor in 1980-1981. But that was a long time ago...

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Plus I will to stop in on some Vespa Shops to get some West Coast SWAG!!

Cheers,

Gianni

When you are in Petaluma, drive up Hwy 101 to downtown Santa Rosa and visit Revolution Moto. Johnna and Roy have a gorgeous store with lots of cool stuff, and they are very hospitable.

I like that show too! I didn't know he was endorsing JG until I just found the web site to reply to this post. I haven't ate there in 4 years but it was awesome when I lived in Sonoma County. They used to have a special menu item that would change every month that had some different meat on it like Yak, Boar, Ostrich, etc...

Well, Guy Fieri started the restaurant back in 1996 and eventually got his TV gig after winning a contest. So, I guess he is endorsing it

I haven't been there in years--hopefully it's still decent now that Guy's doing four TV shows.

Is that place like The Stinking Rose? I ate at one of those in SF in '95. We don't have them here on the east coast. I sure wish we did!

How funny. Shows how dense I am. I love his show and I ate at his restaurant from 1999 until 2005 and never made the connection. Thanks for the info! Oh and the menu with the wild selections is called Hunter's Menu or something like that.

Not sure I never ate at one but the food here was YUMMY. Everything I ordered was good. I don't know about it now but I need to go back to there again.

Sierra Nevada's restaurant (next to the brewery) is my favorite place to eat in Chico. It's definitely a vegetarian free zone. Razz emoticon

So, you'll be in Potrero Hill for the Anchor Steam... there's a great Pizza place called Goat Hill Pizza that you should try.

Also, come by my shop while you're in the hood!

SF Recommendation
In SF, try Momo's by the Ballpark. Very upscale place with a down to earth menu (meatloaf, chicken pot cupcake or the meat lover's calzone). Prices are reasonable for most things...

CHIIIIICOOO!
I went to undergrad inChico, and it is a GREAT college town. The brewery is alright, but there is tons of great food in Chico. Make sure you check out Bidwell Park - a truly unique, long park formed around a creek that runs through town, and then opens up into a much larger nature reserve up into the hills.

Head downtown for some eats -- Breakfast at Morning Thunder Cafe, dinner at Tres Hombres, lunch almost anywhere, and all of it swarming with adorable co-eds.

Ah, Chico. Give it my love.
