Found on the Neiman Marcus webpage??

Confederate Limited-Edition Fighter Motorcycle
Upset you can't buy your very own Batpod? Well, the new Confederate Limited-Edition Fighter Motorcycle ($110,000) is pretty damn close. Limited to just 45 bikes, the Fighter features a carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum chassis, with a 64" wheelbase, integrated braking system, 1966c.c. engine, and a top speed of 190mph. Good luck getting it integrated into your car, though if you have the money to buy this beast, that's probably not going to be a problem.

I was gonna get it until I saw this:

I would question their claim of a 190 top speed on an unfaired 'naked' motorcycle.

Another thing! it has those ridiculous 'forward' foot controls, combined with what look like drag bars...you can't do 190 in the typical cruiser 'C' clamp or 'birthing chair' seating position...you'd be a human drag chute...for a second or two.

I don't doubt it'd damn powerful, but It's highly likely that the speed claim (read: 99% certain) is a calculated, theoretical number based on only hp and gearing under ideal 'laboratory conditions', no one has ridden that thing to those speeds, and I doubt anyone could.

I've held on to a motorcycle's handlebars at an indicated 170 mph (155 actual) and the wind forces are incredible, this was on a Suzuki Hayabusa so there was some air deflection by the fairing...I can't even imagine what the wind might be like with no fairing at all, and an added 35 true mph.

There! I've been a wet blanket....I feel better now. Laughing emoticon

Yeah, that was what I was thinking...190mph with your feet forward, and your chest sticking out like a friggin sail...you better have a strong grip and a diaper. And say goodbye to your helmet. That thing's going to be tearing off your head like it was possessed.

Confederate has always made off the wall... stuff. If you can't make a good enough product, make it different enough so that consumers will buy it just to be different.

And once again, proof that using the best materials is no guarantee of useful application.

Here they go again. Trying to integrate 21st century engineering with 20th century performance.

Why go through the time and expense of designing a state-of-the-art rolling frame and then mating it with a V-twin 45 deg engine? Just like the Buell, attaching a Harley engine to a sport bike frame. Don't these folks ever learn? Jeesh that is is ugly!!!

That's pretty close to my thoughts when I rode a Victory Vision last August, though my version of it was "Why'd they stuff a mid-century farm tractor motor into the Starship Enterprise?"

For another 65k I'd rather have a turbine powered jet bike, which has been clocked at 227mph!!!

Engine: Rolls Royce Allison, 250 series gas turbine
Power: 420-hp & 500-ft/lbs torque

According to Jay Leno, the exhaust of that thing will literally melt the plastic bumper of the car sitting behind you at a stoplight. Razz emoticon

neimanmarcus puts in the ad 190 mph but Confederate on their home page has a pic of the 2008 bonneville salt flats and only ran 166 mph. that bike look a litle modded from what you would get so your down to what 140 150 tops maybe . bunch of money for that and could you imagine tring to get spare parts??

confederate's are pretty cool bikes. they're built here locally in town and you can see them out and about on their test runs quite often. they were one of our sponsors for our rally a couple years ago and had a hellcat ride with us on our group ride during it. we're trying to see if we can get a wraith to show up at our next rally. they're not my style of bike, but when you look up close at them they're pretty amazing to look at.
