Alright well I did the loop hose mod and i completely drained the the tube in front and cleaned out the air filter. The air filter was heavy being soaked with oil. The box had a lot of oil in it so I tried to clean out the box as much as I could. Then I allow the tube to drain completely before I plugged it up. I allowed it to drain over night. I removed the loop hose and reposition it to be more vertical. Everything was set. No more oil in the scoot at all.

So i did a 2 hour ride on my scoot and I came back at home with oil in the tube. I was like WTF...I thought it was good. I'm not sure what is going on but is this something I should stress about? I usually ride hard but today I just took it easy ya know. I wanted to see if riding it easy would keep the oil down but I'm really not sure what is going on.

Should i be stressing about this or is this normal?

My loop is completely vertical. If you had to put your hose "more" vertical, try putting it all the way. See what that does. Make sure your not overfilling the engine. Find a flat surface, put bike on its kickstand, release the tilt lock and the front end should come up about an inch more. Then check your oil dipstick (I'm not calling you a dipstick)

Ummmm - I hate to be a source of stress but I have yet to see any oil in my bulb at all. No mod. My hose does have a natural upward bend but I haven't done a thing to mine. Now - I don't put a lot of high speed miles on mine either. My typical speed during a day is 40 with a max of 60 for short spells. I'm planning on a long ride this weekend so I'll report back after that.

Higher speeds causes more oil to "mist" and therefor may have a higher tendency to be sucked over through the hose. 65+ or more for extended periods is when I have seen oil in my hose. (not the bubble on the bottom, but the hose opposite of the bubble on the front of the air box.) Since putting the loopl, I have not seen any oil.

what i have been doing is everytime after a ride I would drain the tube. Kind of annoying but I just don't want to get it into the air box.

Would you like to post a pic of your loop mod? Oil shouldn't be getting past it. I would like to see how you did it. Thanks.

Okay, okay, like Bubbajohn said, not to be a stick in the mud, but here's my quick riding synopsis:

I ride 75+mph for over 50 mins or so everyday. In addition, I recently road to North Carolina and back from Atlanta doing well over 70 to upwards of 90+(no cops on here i hope, gulp) for over 2 hours of riding(carrying extra gas cans). I have currently 4K mileage. I really put my baby through her paces...

Never, not now, not ever have had oil in my filter or bulb. And I have been checking it since I got it due to the original posts about it. So, I'm not an expert on it, but I don't see why one would have a problem that another would...08/09 issue?

I'll get pictures up later tonight. I'm actually about to head out. But it bugs me that my drain tubes and stuff are getting filled with oil even with the mod...

how do i find that?

Also I'm still finding drops of oil on the other side of the bike. there is a tube running vertically that is black and I know that is where it is coming from. does anyone MP3 500 have drops of oil coming from their bike after a ride? I thought they fixed it but it's still has some drops coming out of the bike but not as much as before.

also here are the pictures of the loop hose mod.

Sorry it took me so long to respond...
My manufactured date is 06/08

You can find that on the metal plate on the right hand side of the parking brake.

Yes, I too, do occassionally have a drop or two of oil coming out of my bike after a ride. It is very, very minimal though and I'm gonna have the dealer look at it when I take it in for servicing here in a week or two.

Could the "oil" be coolant? That's what my leak was...oily coolant, but coolant nonetheless. At the pressure-side hose near the water pump...piss poor clamp, and badly installed at that. Also, on our 4Seasons ride today, a nearly new 500 had the same leak, at the same place...badly clamped.

Also, as far as those pictures you show of your "loop", on the Quasar engines the engine breather originates at the cylinder head, routing blow-by into the aircleaner, and often oil. Where is that connection you show, near the water pump? And what is it venting into the airbox? Doesn't the Master series move blow-by from the cylinder head as well?

See my GTS "loop" picture. Cylinder head to airbox. Is the Master Series engine that different? Anyone?
