Just thought it would be the responsible thing to do and report on a couple of issues with clearance and add-ons for my 500. You can see my mounting locations if you find my "Simple GPS mount" thread. I put a fuse block on the left side (facing forward on bike) right at the tupperware seam. I cushioned it with doubleside tape and held it with a couple of 10-32 x 1.25" screws with locknuts. End result is the screws stuck out about 1/4" from the fuse block. Yesterday I made a very sharp left up a hill will an abrupt transition (translation: bump). I felt a shudder go through the bike when I smacked the "bump" leaned over pretty far and instinct made me beep the horn. Nada. So I pull off the coverings at home and did a once over on the stuff I've added. There was a gouge in the upper aluminum parallelogram bar where it hit the protruding screw on the fuseblock. A quick fix with the Dremel tool but it underlined that the suspension travel needs to be carefully evaluated when adding stuff. I also noted that the wires on the 12V outlet were bent over indicating that the suspension had nudged the wires up there also - glad I carefully wrapped the connectors so little chance of a short. On the other hand my location for the Stebel has been trouble-free - it must be well out of the path of the suspension.
