This is kind of silly, but how do I check the oil level on the Typhoon 50? I bought a used scooter and the oil resevoir doesn't have a dipstick. I'm not sure if it ever did because the manual doesn't mention a dipstick! I don't want to wait until the oil lamp illuminates to add more oil.

It just a case of topping it up , A full tank will last 600-800 miles before the low light comes on , but don't wait for this most people top up when they get fuel .

TBH, you're then required to carry oil with you all the time. That seems like a pain in the rear. Just wait for the oil light to come on or start flickering and fill it up when you get home. I would however do a cursory check every time you get gas. Pull the cap off, look down, see oil?, good enough. Plus when the light comes on you can dump a whole quart/liter bottle of oil in, (assuming the oil tank is the same capacity on a Typhoon as an ET2.)

the typhoon oil tank has a swan neck to the filller tube , so once the level go's down a bit you can't see it ! I also would not trust waiting for the light to come on

Just remember to use an synthetic 2 cycle oil that is recommended for oil injection.....some are pre-mix only...Read the label!!!

I recommend Motorex 2T, Motul 710, Bel Ray Si-7, Repsol 2T....

Well I had a look and yes I can see oil. I picked up a bottle of synthetic 2 stroke oil from the dealer so I assume it's the right kind - but I'll double check!

To properly measure the oil level turn the scoot upside down and catch all the oil as it drains out.
You might have to leave it upside down for awhile to catch all the drips.
Put it in a measuring cup, the ones in your kitchen are perfect.
( The more expensive they are the more accurate they are )
Just pour the oil back in and off you go...

I used to carry a little 3 or 4 oz bottle of oil with me all the time just in case.
It was small enough to put almost anywhere...

well, I'm going to peak into the oil tank when I fill up, and if I don't see oil I'll top up asap! Simple enough
